TAM Airlines and US Airways sign codeshare agreement

TAM Airlines and US Airways signed a codeshare agreement that increases itinerary options for their passengers flying from or to South and North Americas. Starting December 1st, passengers of the Brazilian airline will have new domestic flight options from the company’s gateways in Miami, New York and Orlando. Starting itineraries will offer round trip between Miami and Philadelphia, New York and Phoenix, Orlando and Phoenix, Orlando and Philadelphia, and Orlando and Washington, D.C. These destinations are already available for reservations and purchase. The codeshare agreement is bilateral, which affords each company the ability to sell seats in planes operated by the other as if they were their own.

“Our partnership with US Airways will increase our network’s connectivity. This agreement will facilitate trip planning for our passengers, as well as comfort during the whole trip,” stated Paulo Castello Branco, TAM Airlines Commercial and Planning vice-president. “We are excited to sign this agreement with TAM Airlines and offer new options to our passengers," said Andrew Nocella, US Airways senior vice president for Marketing and Planning. “A codeshare agreement is convenient for the passengers who are now able to make flight reservations directly from US Airways and TAM Airlines for trips where neither airline operates its own aircraft.”

This agreement will offer US Airways’ passengers a more convenient option for making reservations, issuing tickets and dispatching their luggage directly from the TAM Airlines’ Rio gateway to destinations in Sao Paulo, Salvador, Recife and Brasilia. Since both companies are Star Alliance Members, US Airways Dividend Miles members and TAM Airlines Fidelidade members will still enjoy frequent flyer benefits offered by these programs, which allow them to earn and redeem points in flights operated by the companies, as well as access to their VIP lounges.
