The Russian air transportation industry was short of 300,000 clients due to the closure of Egypt

ATOR Analytical Service calculated the volume of air traffic in February 2011. According to the received data, due to the ban for the flights to Egypt outbound market has lost about 150 thousand prospective Russian tourists. The Russian air transportation sector was short of 300 thousand passengers of international flights.

For the first time since October 2009, the number of passengers of international flights to the countries outside of CIS decreased. According to ATOR Analytical Service, such results were caused by the ban for the flights to Egypt. The passenger traffic for the international flights outside CIS countries decreased by 2% in February 2011 in comparison with the same period of last year and amounted to 1 109 000 passengers.

Nevertheless, according to the results of the first 2 months of 2011 the growth of number of the passengers amounted to 12.4%.

The number of passengers of domestic flights increased by 9.2% in February 2011 in comparison with February 2010 and amounted to 1 902 000 passengers.

The absolute leader in number of transported passengers remained Aeroflot: the company transported 1 783 000 passengers during the first 2 months of 2011 (+18.2% in comparison with the same period of last year). Then went Transaero with 859 000 passengers (+10.8%), Sibir transported 648 000 passengers, UTair – 600 000 people and GTK Rossiya – 370 000 people.
