Tiger Airways new cabin crew uniforms ahead of Avalon launch

The latest recruits to join Tiger Airways are celebrating their graduation in style, revealing the new cabin crew uniforms ahead of the launch of the airline’s services from Melbourne (Avalon Airport), commencing from 10 November.

The new cabin crew which graduate today with “flying colours” – the majority of them local to the Geelong and Avalon areas – are the first to wear the new locally designed uniforms, which will be rolled out across the other crew bases in Adelaide and at Melbourne Airport (Tullamarine) in the coming weeks.

“It’s an exciting time of continued growth for Tiger Airways as we celebrate so many significant milestones this month with our new base and flights from Melbourne (Avalon Airport), three new aircraft for Australia on their way soon and our third birthday on 23 November,” says Tiger Airways Australia Managing Director, Crawford Rix.

“The new uniforms not only look great, but they signal a new phase in Tiger’s development as we look ahead to our fourth year of operation in Australia. While we’re still the youngest airline in Australia with the newest fleet of aircraft, we’re continually evolving and enhancing our product to best meet the needs of our staff and customers.

“As Australia’s leading low fare airline, everything we do is about reducing our cost base to the absolute minimum to be able to continue to pass on consistently the lowest fares to our customers. Tiger Airways is thrilled to have support from Chartis – providers of ‘Tiger Purrtection’ travel insurance – for their sponsorship of the new uniforms,” says Mr Rix.

Mr Rix said today’s graduation represented a further jobs boost for the region as the airline had created over one hundred jobs through flight crew, ground handling and check-in staff positions at Avalon Airport. Another recruitment drive will take place soon to recruit more cabin crew prior to Christmas to support Tiger Airways’ continued growth.

Mark Kopec, Regional Travel Insurance Manager, said “Chartis has supported Tiger Airways since their launch in Australia three years ago and are delighted to be a part of their increasing success.

“Tiger Airways is one of Chartis’ highly regarded global partners and this sponsorship further illustrates the strong relationship that our two organisations have. We are very proud to continue our Tiger Purrtection offering that provides cover to millions of Tiger Airways passengers each year.

“Our congratulations go out to the new Tiger cubs graduating today and we look forward to seeing them in their new Tiger Purrtection uniforms.”

The new services commencing on November 10 will provide around one million visitor seats annually through Avalon Airport.
