Two Maryland businesses expand services at BWI Airport

On the Fly by the Greene Turtle and Socks Express have been long time tenants of the airport.

BALTIMORE – On Tuesday April 11, BWI Airport and Fraport Maryland celebrated the grand openings of two additional Maryland-based businesses – On the Fly by the Greene Turtle and Socks Express at BWI Marshall Airport. Both businesses have been long time tenants of the airport and are expanding their presence at the airport.

“We deeply value our nearly two decades partnership as the BWI Marshall Airport Concessionaire during a period of exceptional growth as the airport has grown into the busiest commercial airport in the region, and we remain committed to providing the highest quality passenger experience possible,” said Fraport USA CEO Michael R. Mullaney. “We are excited to support the growth and success of these two exemplary, longstanding tenants with Maryland roots.”

On the Fly by The Greene Turtle arrives at the lower level of the E Main Terminal and provides breakfast, lunch and coffee upgrades for our military service members flying out of Gate E. On the Fly expands the Green Turtle’s footprint at BWI Marshall Airport and will feature the most popular food options and beverages from the main kitchen of Green Turtle, which is located on the D concourse.

Demonstrating the power of Fraport’s dedication to growing small and minority owned business at BWI, Socks Express expands onto the A/B Food Court with an express retail shop. Socks Express, a locally owned ACDBE subtenant, is one of the best retailers of fashion socks and features the finest collection of socks and related accessories.

The MAA-Fraport relationship has resulted in global award recognition for its stellar customer service, innovative passenger engagement, boundary-expanding concessions, and pioneering entrepreneurial programs. Over the last 10 years, minority and women owned food and retail concession businesses at the airport have generated over $466 million at BWI Marshall.

Attending Tuesday’s grand openings for both Sock Express and On the Fly by The Greene Turtle were special VIPs Ricky Smith, BWI Marshall Airport CEO; Gina Stewart, CEO/President BWI Business Partnership; Maryland Delegate Mike Rogers; and Maryland State Senator Pamela Beidle.
