Are serviced apartments really better options than hotel rooms?

Serviced apartments do have a number of advantages over traditional hotels and as we discuss some of the most relevant ones next, things should start to make more sense.

In recent years, serviced apartments have risen in popularity significantly and a good percentage of travellers are preferring them over traditional hotel rooms, be it for business or pleasure. However, are they really a better proposition than hotel rooms? Or are they more a trend than anything else? As it turns out, serviced apartments do have a number of advantages over traditional hotels and as we discuss some of the most relevant ones next, things should start to make more sense.

Serviced apartments are cost-effective
Can you get a hotel room that will cost less than the rent of a well-furnished serviced apartment? The answer is yes, you can. Will that cheaper room be comparable to the facilities a serviced apartment will provide you with? No, not even close. Providers such as Dream Apartments have well-furnished, spacious facilities in Belfast, Liverpool and Newcastle with top of the line services available to each and every one of them, and yet, they cost significantly less than what a hotel room of similar class in the area does. The fact is that while they are generally not cheap, serviced apartments are more cost-effective than comparable hotel rooms. In other words, you will be saving money on your accommodation, without having to downgrade.

They foster a homely environment
We all like to travel, but wouldn’t it be nice if we could come back to our own beds at night, irrespective of where we are in the world? Well, serviced apartments are as close to that utopian world as a frequent traveller can possibly get. Often marketed as a ‘home away from home’, serviced apartments are truly designed to provide that feeling of coming back to a home, not a hotel room. Everything from cooking to housekeeping will still be taken care of though, essentially making it a home without the chores we all hate!

Serviced apartments are more spacious
A quality serviced apartment will almost always be bigger than a hotel room, if not always. In addition to providing bigger rooms in general, they also come equipped with fully-stocked kitchens, should you prefer to whip up a meal yourself. Neither the space, nor the kitchen can be expected from even some of the best hotel rooms in a city, which further highlights the fact which we discussed earlier; serviced apartments are just better value for money than hotel rooms. If you have family or friends with you, the extra space makes these so much better than staying in cramped hotel rooms.

So, does it mean that serviced apartments are really a better option than hotel rooms? The answer would have to be ‘yes’, especially when compared to what similarly priced hotel rooms are offering to their guests. On the other hand, if you are looking for the cheapest option available, hostels will probably be a better value for money option, as long as you do not mind compromising quite a bit on privacy, security and comfort.
