Combining travel & work: A myth or something you can actually do

Plenty of people started working from home this year and those who managed to organize their work and private life can easily do what they do from any location around the world. All that’s needed is a tablet or laptop and a good internet connection to work from any location you can think of.

No matter if you have a family, boyfriend/girlfriend or you’re single, travel and work can definitely be combined into an amazing experience. Those who say that work and pleasure can’t go together are just making excuses not to work while they’re traveling or not to travel because of work. There are certain categories that can’t mix travel and work, but if you have an office job and you can do it remotely, you have everything you need to go for a long working vacation.

Plenty of people started working from home this year and those who managed to organize their work and private life can easily do what they do from any location around the world. All that’s needed is a tablet or laptop and a good internet connection to work from any location you can think of.

Since I started working from home, my entire family and I started going on two-month vacations. Each time we travel, we manage our time so that we can work, earn money, and enjoy the place we’re staying at. When you get a hang of juggling work, family, hobbies, and everything else, you’ll never want to go back to working in an office again.

A large number of people have opted for renting vacation homes during the Coronavirus outbreak and most of them have organized their work and private life so they could actually enjoy the nature that surrounds them. My family and I have also rented a vacation home but in a little more urban area and I can honestly say that I really enjoyed the time we spent there. I also had a lot more free time. I managed to earn more, I had the time to rest, and I’ve never felt better in my life. That’s how I felt every time we went on our working vacations to the seaside. We go to Greece every year during the summer because we all love the water and that’s where we can relax the most.

If you know how to organize your time, you’ll have no trouble combining travel and work! All you need to do is pick a destination! To make this work, you’ll need a laptop, external hard drive, and an internet connection to enjoy working while you travel.

Tips To Enjoy Working While You Travel

The first thing you need to do is find a location you want to visit. You should research the place to see if there’s anything you need to know before visiting, as well as if there are any laws or regulations you should know about. You should also ask about living costs, how much you’ll need to buy food, accommodation, and rent a car.

You should look for a vacation home or apartment where no one will bother you, not even the owner of the place. Also, look for accommodation that’s not near the city center, or anywhere near the main road because you won’t have the peace and quiet that you want. This way, you’ll be much more productive and you’ll get to relax and rest during your stay.

You’ll also need a desk and chair to make your own workspace. A good internet connection or WiFi is also essential to be able to work away from home. If there’s a possibility to be the only occupants in the vacation home, pick a place such as that or a place where you won’t have to argue with other guests snatching all the bandwidth.

If you find an accommodation that offers breakfast, take that as well because it’s usually more affordable than buying the same things in a local market. Places that offer breakfast usually offer coffee as well so you’ll actually save money just by having your morning coffee and breakfast at the same spot. Another benefit is that you’ll also save a lot of time because you won’t need to visit the market every morning to buy groceries and make a delicious breakfast.

Consider how you’ll organize your stay. If you’re well-organized during your vacation, you’ll only need to work a few hours a day to reach all your goals. If you wake up earlier and work a couple of hours before going to the beach, you’ll need to work only a few more hours in the afternoon to do everything you need to do during the day. This way, you’ll have more than enough time to spend with your family and see the sights as well. If you’re single and you went on a vacation by yourself, you’ll have even more time to work and relax. If you take your laptop to the beach, you’ll be able to work even while listening to the soothing sound of the waves crashing in front of your feet.

The thing you shouldn’t forget is to get insurance and even consider legal funding while you’re away from home. Unfortunately, things happen and the best way to cope with these things is to be prepared for any unexpected situations.

The fact that you’re working from home doesn’t mean that you can’t also do the things you love such as travel and enjoy your free time. You’d be surprised just how much easier it will be to focus on your work and how faster you’ll do things when you change the environment!
