Five fun things to do in London with the kids

The London Eye

What you choose to see and do in London as a family will depend on a number of factors including the length of your stay, the age of your kids, your interests as a family, your budget, the time of year, and anything else you deem important.

If you are planning a trip to London as a family, then you’re in luck! There are simply so many fun and exciting things to do in London with kids that no one list could possibly include them all.

What you choose to see and do in London as a family will depend on a number of factors including the length of your stay, the age of your kids, your interests as a family, your budget, the time of year, and anything else you deem important.

If you are visiting during the school break and want to maximize your time, it’s worth purchasing tickets to major attractions in advance – even better if you can get a skip the line ticket, as queues tend to be lengthy.

So, what are some of the most popular things to do with kids in the city of London?

Warner Bros Studio Tour
This attraction is located about twenty miles outside the city but it’s well worth making the journey if your family is obsessed with the magical wizarding world of Harry Potter. You can easily reach the studios by train from central London – from London Euston Station, take a train to Watford Junction. The journey takes around twenty minutes. Tickets must be booked in advance and kids under four go free. You’ll get the full Harry Potter studios experience including the amazing costumes, stunning sets and all the props.

Madame Tussauds
Madame Tussauds is one of the top attractions in London and it’s home to hundreds of intricately detailed celebrity waxworks. You might not be able to meet the Royal Family in person when you visit London, but you can certainly enjoy the second-best option here. Head to the music area to see waxworks of popular stars like Taylor Swift. If you’ve got a superhero fan in the family, they’re going to love the Marvel area where you can meet the waxwork versions of Spider-Man, Iron Man, Captain Marvel and more.

The London Eye
This attraction is an absolute must when you’re visiting the UK capital – whether with or without kids! The views over the city are breathtaking and for an even better experience, plan your visit around sunset when the light is particularly gorgeous. It’s one of the most popular attractions in London, so it’s well worth buying skip-the-line tickets as you can expect huge queues. The 4D movie included with your ticket is particularly fun with great effects that really make the experience.

Hop-On Hop-Off Buses
If you want to see as much of London as possible with the kids – but dread the idea of walking around or getting on and off the London Underground – then a Hop On Hop Off bus tour could be an ideal option for your family. These buses are one of the best ways to see a big city with little ones in tow as they are comfortable and you can see many of the attractions as you go around, while choosing which ones you think are important enough to stop off and spend some time at. There are several bus tour operators in London with various different routes covering all the major highlights of the city.

Toy Stores
Finally, shopping until you drop is a rite of passage on a visit to London and when you’re with the kids, you’ll want to find some stores that they’re going to enjoy too. The good news is that London is home to some of the biggest toy stores in the world. Head to Leicester Square for the flagship LEGO and M&M’s stores or pay a visit to Hamleys – the biggest and oldest toy store in the world – at London Bridge.

These are just a few of the best things to do in London with kids. What’s next for your family adventure?
