The USA has long been one of the most popular destinations for tourists to visit, and it’s easy to see why. This vast country has a wealth of different locations to explore, with each state having a unique vibe that attracts a diverse range of people. In fact, the options for things to do and see here are almost limitless!

This means that choosing which city to stay in can be tricky. Some people dream of visiting one place in particular; however for others, making the decision can feel overwhelming. On the positive side, the fantastic selection of locations means that you’re unlikely to make a bad choice!

To help make the task easier though, here are 5 recommendations that should definitely be at the top of your wish list.

1. San Francisco
One understandably popular US destination is the Californian city of San Francisco. This free-spirited hub has a wealth of amazing sights to explore, from the iconic Golden Gate Bridge to instantly-recognizable Lombard Street and the infamous island prison of Alcatraz. So hop on the cable car and discover its beautiful parks, fascinating museums and galleries, Pier 39 with its beloved sea lions, and the colorful streets of Chinatown. There’s also a wonderful culinary scene to sink your teeth into.

2. Nashville
Famous as the home of country music, there are plenty of great things to do in Nashville, Tennessee, whether you’re a musician or not. Naturally many of the attractions are musically inspired, from the Country Music Hall of Fame to the National Museum of African American Music. However, the city also boasts an awesome craft beer scene, plenty of green spaces, and a wealth of stylish boutiques to browse.

3. New York City
New York City is an icon and a trendsetter, somewhere that feels familiar to almost everyone because it’s been featured on TV and in movies so much. There are so many sights to explore there, from the Statue of Liberty and Times Square to the Empire State Building and grassy expanse of Central Park. On top of which, museums and galleries such as the Met, American Museum of Natural History and Museum of Modern Art are full of fascinating exhibits and cultural artifacts. Don’t forget to catch a show on Broadway!

4. Las Vegas
Whether you’re a gambler or not, there is something for everyone to enjoy in the hedonistic city of Las Vegas. It’s an entertainment paradise, with shows from all sorts of big-name stars and plenty of fine dining restaurants to keep you fueled throughout your trip. If you can tear yourself away from the decadent casinos on the Strip, outside of the urbanity you’ll find stunning desert canyons and vast plains perfect for hiking and rock climbing.

5. New Orleans
Another hotbed of indulgence, New Orleans is buzzing with festivals and epicurean delights. The hometown of jazz and Mardi Gras, the Big Easy certainly knows how to celebrate. Pop into the fabulous New Orleans Museum of Art and surrounding City Park, stuff yourself on epic Po’Boy sandwiches, tour the French Quarter, and be sure to spend some time shopping on Magazine Street.
