How safe is Bulgaria for travelers

In this article, Boiana MG will tell you why Bulgaria is one of the safest countries in Europe.

As far as the situation with covid is getting laid back and things start getting back to normal, people are more and more eager to travel not only within the borders of their own country but generally all over the world. When we start choosing a destination we surely think of a place that is safe and comfortable. In this article, Boiana MG will tell you why Bulgaria is one of the safest countries in Europe!

1. Traveling
When it comes to traveling, transport in Bulgaria is pretty safe. Just as everywhere in the world, there are accidents. However, it has never been a massive problem, especially with buses and trains.

On the other hand, if you choose to travel in town by taxi you should be aware of the fact that some drivers may want to fool you. Our best advice is to stay away from the local habit of grabbing a taxi on the street. There are some self-employed drivers with company-branded cars who would just rip your skin off whether you are a tourist or not-although, it is more frequently recognized as a problem with tourists.

So, just use proper company applications on your phone. This way, you can keep track of the number of the car, the driver’s ID, where the car is when waiting, and what the route of the car is according to the navigation the driver uses. Also, if you manage to forget something in the car, it is very easy to track it by calling their central office.

2. Thefts
When we are talking about theft and robberies, surveys show a very low level of crime. It is not a common phenomenon for sure. Again, just like everywhere around the world, we highly recommend being cautious when in crowds. If you go to a club, keep in mind that it is a better option to leave your jacket and possibly any purse in the closet. If there is no closet, leave your stuff in an obvious place in front of you, or a secret space around you.

Most tourists love Sunny beach, and you should know that bad people know it. Beware of hanging your belongings safely. Although Bulgaria is generally considered a very safe country, it is only natural that tourists are much more vulnerable to any crime in every country.

3. Being a tourist does not mean being a fool
It is a very frequent tendency everywhere that tourists are considered fools. If you want to buy something or make a reservation at a hotel, and you go there unprepared in advance, speaking English, chances are they will try to fool you. Our best advice here is to book everything possible in advance – hotels, rent-a-cars, and online tickets for any attraction. This is a way not to get ripped off by anyone!

Bulgaria is considered a very safe country for both locals and tourists. However, it is important to know that bad people exist, and you should make sure you do not give them a chance to make you a fool!
