How to optimize your backpack space in your upcoming winter holidays

You need a plan, a list, and of course, your bags, backpacks, and/or suitcases.

Traveling, as beautiful and exciting as it is, usually requires a lot of planning and organizing, which is not always super fun.

One of the travel-related activities that some of us dread is definitely packing. This is where your organizational skills come to shine. You need a plan, a list, and of course, your bags, backpacks, and/or suitcases.

If you are already nervous about the packaging, we got you. Read on for some tips on how to pack your backpack efficiently and quickly.

Start with a plan
The best tip we have for you is to start with a plan. This plan should contain answers to simple questions that will help you pack more efficiently. These questions are related to the following: where are you going to travel, for how long, and is there a special occasion for your trip?

All of these questions are there to make it easier for you to choose what to pack. We would also remind you to check the weather conditions for your destination, so you know do you need warmer clothes or not. The same goes for shoes and other accessories you might need, such as umbrellas or raincoats.

Take your time to make notes and carefully write down your necessities. When the time comes to pack, just follow the list and you will be ready in no time.

Research your travel destination
Before you start packing search for your destination online and gather some information about it. We have already mentioned that you should know the weather conditions, but it is also great to know more things.

You can find anything online, from eventual dress codes for certain places, to restaurants and cafes you want to visit upon arrival.

The internet is a great place when used properly, so we encourage you to check whatever you wish to know about your destination, even if it is a simple search for the best breakfast in New Orleans.

Prepare your outfits
This is always a good idea. Choose your outfits in advance, so you do not overpack the backpack. This might sound intimidating at first, but if you do it a couple of times you will see how helpful it can be.

Preparing your outfits in advance will really come in handy if there is some special occasion to think about. Anniversaries, birthday celebrations, New Year’s eve, and other events that require a bit of dressing up can make you overpack.

You can avoid this by having your outfit ready. If you end up having more space left, pack another outfit option just in case.

Pick a smaller backpack
Another great way to avoid overpacking is self-explanatory. Use a smaller backpack or a bag! This way you will make sure you have packed only the necessary things. We tend to pack chaotically if we see there is a lot of space left in the backpack.

The visual aspect of the more spacious backpack can lead to bringing a lot of things that you do not need. If you are prone to bringing 10 outfits and 4 pairs of shoes for a weekend getaway, this tip is great for you.

Efficient packing requires practice and time. The best thing you can do is to start packing early. It is never too early, but it often can get too late. Packing in a rush can result in overpacking, or worse – forgetting something you really need there with you.

Take your time, organize and pack steadily. When you master the art of packing you will see that it does not always have to be a tedious task. Travel safely and enjoy the holidays!
