How to plan a camping trip: Five simple steps to follow

Going camping is a wonderful way to get away from life’s daily stressors. The relaxing fires, lakeside walks, and natural environment make for an amazing time. It is also a great opportunity to spend time in nature with people you love, without the distraction of technology.

The fire crackles and spits as you find your seat in the circle of friends around it. Chocolate, graham crackers, and marshmallows are being passed around with which to make s’mores.

As the sun sets, you breathe out in a sigh of relief. Sitting in the cool breeze, feeling the contrast of the hot fire, you sense that you are finally at one with nature.

Does the above scenario sound like a dream to you? It certainly does to me.

Going camping is a wonderful way to get away from life’s daily stressors. The relaxing fires, lakeside walks, and natural environment make for an amazing time. It is also a great opportunity to spend time in nature with people you love, without the distraction of technology. However, sometimes planning your camping trip can cause more stress than the actual trip will relieve.

Below are five simple steps to follow in order to plan your camping trip in a stress-free way.

Location, location, location
The first decision you will want to make in regards to planning your camping trip will be where you are going. Is there a park near you with a campground? Or do you plan to travel a bit farther to an area with a nice view?

Choosing an exquisite location is crucial to enjoying your stay. You want to find a clean, possibly pet-friendly, and accessible area that will be conducive to your activities. After you have decided on a location, you will also need to research that area’s campground resources in order to know if you will have access to things like water and plumbing.

Having fun
Planned physical activities are one of the best ways to have fun during your trip to the great outdoors. Watersports, hiking, cycling, and fishing are four enjoyable and family-friendly events that can be planned in advance.

Make sure you bring the proper equipment for any activities you plan to participate in. If you do not own the equipment, Planet Camping has the best camping activity accessories around, such as kayaks, paddleboards, and so much more.

Packing appropriately
Not only does Planet Camping have unbeatable prices for activity resources, but they also have great deals on any footwear, tents, backpacks, sleeping bags, and other equipment you might need. When planning your camping trip, packing the right items is critical.

You don’t want to be left in the middle of the woods without a flashlight! Remember to make a list (and check it twice) in order to keep track of everything you will need. Pack your car to the brim with canoes and camping gear in order to stay prepared.

Grub
Food is one of the most enjoyable perks in camping. S'mores, hot dogs and other traditional snacks are great for roasting over the fire. Prepare a cooler ahead of time, packed with water bottles and any sustenance you will need in order to nourish yourself properly for loads of fun. Remember to avoid dehydration as you are in the sun and doing extra physical activity.

Kids!
We understand if you want a romantic getaway just for you and your partner or some fun adult time with a few close friends. However, bringing your kids along will ensure much laughter and silliness.

The bright spot in your trip might be having the family together. And it’s an experience that will last them a lifetime. While planning your camping trip can be stressful, it definitely does not have to be. Have a blast and enjoy your time away from the “real world.”
