Perfect holidays in Malta for everyone

Malta is a beautiful destination for holiday makers. The country itself consists of several islands, although only three; Malta, Gozo and Comino are inhabited. Its premise is almost perfect in its simplicity; an archipelago in the middle of the Mediterranean Sea. As this suggests, Malta looks fantastic and has wonderful weather in the summer months.

Culture and history
Even the buildings in Malta look fantastic; the whole island has an unapologetic Mediterranean feel to it, with much  of the nation’s history on display. For those interested in learning about the past there is a wealth of things to do in Malta.

One of the most famous sites is the Ghar Dalam cave and museum. This dried river bed has thrown up a lot of prehistoric fossils, many of which are on display in the museum. This includes the skeleton of an ancient pygmy elephant that always draws a lot of attention.

Likewise, the Hagar Qim shows another side of Malta's history. An ancient religious temple, Haga Qim is recognised by the World Heritage committee as one of the oldest of its type, a sure sign of both its importance and fascinating insight into a previous culture.

The night life
It seems anywhere tourists go in the Mediterranean, a strong night scene is sure to follow and Malta is no exception. Paceville, found in Malta, is often regarded as the epicentre of nightlife on the island. The various nightclubs, bars and pubs attract young tourists every year and are a match for holidays to Tenerife, Ibiza and other Spanish party destinations.

Even those used to staying in hotels in Benidorm will find Malta a worthy destination with the chance to party on such a beautiful island proving too tempting for many: perhaps why holidays to Malta are so popular?

Alternatively, Malta is dotted with restaurants and cafés for those who prefer a quieter evening. This includes exotic specialities such as tapas that make Mediterranean cuisine something that has to be tried. It pays to keep an eye out for the quieter locations, away from the tourist hot spots. So, be it a loud night out or a quiet glass of wine before bed, Malta has more than enough to entertain you after the sun sets.

The Coast
Of course, one can't come to an island and not consider spending a day on the coast. Malta's coastline and beaches are picturesque. It would prove pretty difficult to travel all the way down and not spend a day sat next to the deep blue hues of the Mediterranean on a warm sandy coast. These can get quite busy during the peak of the tourist season, but the experience can still prove relaxing.

There is more than just lying on the beach, however; Malta also plays host to various beach sports, from windsurfing to volleyball. There are a range of things to do on the beach, from simply relaxing to learning a new sport.

In a nutshell, Malta is an ideal sun location, set in the middle of the Mediterranean Sea, there is a surprising amount to do in such a small country. No wonder thousands of tourists flock there each year; the chance is too good to pass up.
