Robert Kraft steps up for University of New Hampshire by providing team with Patriot Plane

Kraft’s passion for and love of football began during the ’60s when he began watching the AFL at a variety of Boston venues.

If the only thing you knew about Robert Kraft was that he owned the New England Patriots, you'd be selling yourself as well as the Brookline native short. Born and raised in Massachusetts, Robert Kraft grew up a fan of all things sports in the greater Boston area.

Originally selling newspapers outside of the old Braves Stadium, Kraft would go on to make several savvy financial decisions that would lead to his acquisition of the Patriots. 27 + years later, with six Super Bowl Rings on his hand, Kraft has cemented himself as not just an NFL legend but also an icon to his hometown.

Most recently, Robert Kraft continued giving back by focusing on his second love after football, NCAA and MLS football.

Helping the University of New Hampshire men's soccer team
Long before Robert Kraft was indefinitely linked with the winning ways of the New England Patriots, he was focused on turning Foxborough into a true destination for MLS competition. In the early '90s, Kraft helped lobby Foxborough as a destination for the 1994 World Cup. In 1995, Kraft would create his own team, the New England Revolution, as a principal investor in Major League Soccer. To say that Kraft cares about the European form of football would be an understatement.

So when the New Hampshire Wildcats needed a lift to Corvallis, ORE, to take on Oregon State in the second round of the NCAA Tournament, Robert Kraft was quick to answer their call. Kraft would supply the Wildcats with use of the Patriots Plane on Friday to transport them to their momentous matchup with the hometown Oregon State Beavers.

The roster of players as well as UNH Head Coach Marc Hubbard were all effusive with praise and thanks for the use of the plane. The experience, likely to be once-in-a-lifetime, meant the world to Coach Hubbard and his team. Hubbard stated, "Travel has never made me feel so energized and we have no excuses to compete with everything we have on Sunday."

Hubbard and his team went on to thank the Patriots directly in an interview with Patriots.com, saying, "I want to thank the Patriots organization for coming through when we were desperate to find a way to get out West as efficiently as possible."

This is the fifth consecutive NCAA Tournament that UNH has qualified for.

World of Robert Kraft
Robert Kraft was born and raised in Brookline, MA, where he attended public school before earning his way to Columbia University through an academic scholarship. Upon graduating, Kraft would go on to attend and graduate from Harvard Business School with a Master's Degree in Business Administration.

Kraft's passion for and love of football began during the '60s when he began watching the AFL at a variety of Boston venues. Kraft would invest in season tickets to see the Patriots when they relocated to Schaefer Stadium in 1971, holding those experiences as pivotal to his passionate pursuit of excellence to this day.
