Top seven essay writing tips for every college student who wants to get ahead

Here are seven essential essay writing tips that all students can use in order to complete any essay with ease.

Writing essays can be difficult, especially if you’re not used to it or don’t know where to start. Luckily, there are many different essay writing tips that every college student can take advantage of in order to improve their writing skills and get ahead in their classwork and assignments. Here are seven essential essay writing tips that all students can use in order to complete any essay with ease and make good grades in the process just like I write my essay.

1) Start with a bang
Starting with a bang will make your essay stand out from the rest.  At least one sentence should be catchy enough to compel the reader to read more. This is very important because if they stop reading after one sentence, they will not read any further. Start off strong by grabbing the attention of your audience and keep them interested in what you have to say. Your readers want to know why it's worth their time to read on.  Keep it interesting: Don't bore your readers with uninteresting topics.

2) Don't be afraid to be controversial
Being controversial isn't always a bad thing. If you have an unpopular opinion, for example, it's your job to articulate the reasons for that opinion and show how those reasons are compelling. Sometimes people need to hear something they disagree with in order to be open-minded about what you're saying. It's not your job to convince them, but it is your responsibility as a college student with an unpopular opinion to make them understand why you believe what you believe.

3) Keep it short and sweet
Keep it short and sweet. Even if you are one of those people who likes to think long and hard about your essays, the point is to get in and out quickly. A paragraph should be enough space to make your point, so don't waste time with anything longer than that. Make sure there are no sentence fragments: Make sure there are no sentence fragments. They can take up space without making a complete thought, which just wastes precious words.

4) Make sure your thesis is strong
Thesis statements are usually a sentence or two that introduce the topic and provide an overview of the argument. A thesis statement may also be called a hook or punch line. You can use your thesis statement to show the reader what you will be talking about in your essay. This is one of the most important parts of your paper so spend time crafting it carefully.

5) Use transitions
Using transitions will help keep your essay organized and make it easier for readers to follow along. Here are some examples of transitions: To summarize, However, Furthermore, and Additionally. These are all words you can use to transition from one sentence to the next. Use these in your essay when you need to go from one idea or point in your argument to another. The word however is used often as a way to contrast two points of view.

6) Edit, edit, edit
Editing is not just a final step, it is an integral part of the writing process. By editing your work while you write, you can avoid having to go back and fix mistakes later on.  Edit as often as possible: once you've written something down, edit it as soon as possible. The sooner you can identify errors in your work and make the necessary changes, the better off you will be when it comes time to submit. Don't forget about punctuation: Pay attention to where punctuation should go (for example, periods should come at the end of sentences). Make sure there are spaces between words that are supposed to have spaces between them.

7) Have someone else read it
Have someone else read your essay before you turn it in. While you might think that what you wrote is good, a second opinion is always a good idea. They will be able to catch any mistakes or things that don’t make sense, which will make your writing much more polished and perfect. They can also help point out ways to improve the content of the essay so that it reflects well on you as the writer.
