Seatrade Europe will return in October 2005 for another exhibition and conference for the cruise, ferry and river cruise industries, following last month’s successful second event.
Over 2100 executives from 53 countries were at Seatrade Europe, 29-31 October 2003, Congress Centrum Hamburg. Close to 600 international delegates attended conference sessions dedicated to the states of each sector, to itinerary strategies, IT for the cruise industry, and to building up Europe as a destination brand.
“We are very pleased with the buoyant atmosphere of the show, which clearly underscores the huge potential for further development of these three sectors in Europe,” said Seatrade’s Chris Hayman. “Seatrade Europe is now established as the meeting place for the European cruise, ferry and river cruise industries, and it is noticeable how many more non-Europeans are attending the event this year in order to develop relations with European lines.”
New for Seatrade Europe 2003 was the system of scheduled appointments between owner/operators and exhibitors. Peter Titchener of Multiport Ship Agencies Network was among those complimenting this new feature, saying, “The system of appointments was very successful.” Fabienne Renault-Legendre of CCI Port de Cherbourg commented, “The organisation of meetings was very efficient”, and Euripedes Gavrielides, CEO of Louis Cruise Lines, supported this by stating that “most successful was the organised schedule for visiting various exhibitors.”
The social highlight of the event was its welcoming reception at Schmidt’s Tivoli Theatre. Around 600 participants witnessed an exclusive live performance by Udo Lindenberg, Germany’s most famous rock sensation. Udo entertained the international audience with modern renditions of classic 1930s/40s songs from his new maritime-related project, Atlantic Affairs.
