Festicket reveals findings of the first International Music

Not only do festival goers want to go abroad, but they want the whole process to be as easy as possible, which is, in part, why Festicket has proven so popular. In 2013, 60% of people bought their festival essentials – travel, accommodation, ticket etc. – separately, but in 2014, 95% of them will aim to buy everything in one go from a website like Festicket.

Festicket, Europe’s largest music festival travel platform, have released the findings of their International Music Festival Trends survey, which not only is the first study of its kind into international music festival travel, but offers insight into the differences between festival goers in the UK and overseas.

Key findings

  • They show that, not only do festival goers want to go abroad, but they want the whole process to be as easy as possible, which is, in part, why Festicket has proven so popular. In 2013, 60% of people bought their festival essentials – travel, accommodation, ticket etc. – separately, but in 2014, 95% of them will aim to buy everything in one go from a website like Festicket.
  • Increasingly, it seems, festival folk want more comfort – again something that Festicket specialise in, offering hotels, hostels and apartments as well as luxury camping options. The stats back this up – in 2013 only 8% of people stayed in a luxury hotel, but in 2014 a massive 80% of people are planning to travel in style and stay in a luxury hotel.
  • Croatia was the most popular destination last year for all festival goers, with more than 20% of people heading there compared to other places like Germany (19%) and the Netherlands (12%)

Festicket is an innovative social booking platform that offers one-click festival packages to customers all over the world. This year it has again signed up the likes of Bestival, EXIT, Sziget, Timewarp, Tomorrowland and Ultra Europe, as well as many others, making it Europe’s largest music festival travel platform and, as such, placing it in prime position to offer insights into international festival attendance.

The people behind the slick, user-friendly ticket and travel package-selling operation have conducted a survey with over 2,700 festival goers from all around the world. Festicket itself has grown at an astonishing rate, which proves how increasingly popular international travel to festivals has become.

What’s more, because Festicket is placed so centrally in the global festival market – working with over 200 festivals globally, having over 200,000 members spread worldwide and over 400,000 visitors per month to the website – they have fast become experts in their field. The findings, split between results collected from UK based festival goers and those in the rest of the world – make for interesting reading.

They show that, not only do festival goers want to go abroad, but they want the whole process to be as easy as possible, which is, in part, why Festicket has proven so popular. In 2013, 60% of people bought their festival essentials – travel, accommodation, ticket etc. – separately, but in 2014, 95% of them will aim to buy everything in one go from a website like Festicket.

Increasingly, it seems, festival folk want more comfort – again something that Festicket specialise in, offering hotels, hostels and apartments as well as luxury camping options. The stats back this up – in 2013 only 8% of people stayed in a luxury hotel, but in 2014 a massive 80% of people are planning to travel in style and stay in a luxury hotel.

Also worth noting is that festival goers all over the world really do view their musical pilgrimages as a proper holiday, with 60% saying that they extended their trip to make the most of the destination.

UK festival goers also plan ahead more according to the survey, which reports that 25% of people booked their festival package more than 9 months in advance.

Unsurprisingly, Croatia was the most popular destination last year for all festival goers, with more than 20% of people heading there compared to other places like Germany (19%) and the Netherlands (12%).
