Le Cordon Bleu London and Birkbeck, UoL announce innovative new hospitality master’s degree

This distinctive course will draw on both academic and professional expertise to provide the opportunity for personal and professional development within the field and equip students with the skills to meet challenges head on with inventive solutions.

Le Cordon Bleu London in partnership with Birkbeck, University of London have announced the launch of their new MSc Hospitality Innovation Management degree.

Delivered jointly by Birkbeck and Le Cordon Bleu, this new master’s degree has been created following the success of the BBA Culinary Industry Management and MSc Culinary Innovation Management degrees also delivered by the academic partners. Whereas these existing degrees focus on the food industry, the MSc Hospitality Innovation Management will look at all aspects of hospitality management and is the first of its kind in the UK.

Le Cordon Bleu London is a world-renowned network of educational institutions dedicated to providing the highest level of culinary and hospitality instruction through world-class courses, whilst Birkbeck is an internationally recognised centre of excellence in teaching, research and consultancy in the broad field of management. These areas of expertise make the ideal combination to deliver a programme of this nature.

Conducted entirely through evening classes, the MSc Hospitality Innovation Management focuses on teaching students to use innovation and strategy to address issues and trends in an ever-changing industry. Students will use pioneering simulation software, which allows them to use their analytical skills and strategic decision-making in a true to life business scenario. This immersive technique gives real time experience of the challenges presented when running a hospitality business.

Chef and restaurateur, Chris Galvin, who was recently appointed as honorary Visiting Professor of Practice in Birkbeck’s Department of Management and who will be lecturing on the course, commented “Having worked with Le Cordon Bleu for many years now, it feels great to be able to work on this programme and hopefully be able to inspire students and share current business trends. I have always believed work experience that is supported by education is the perfect combination. I am a true believer in lifelong education”.
