BOOT 2023 – “THE” Water sports trade and tourism fair

BOOT 2023 – Water sports trade and tourism fair this year, returns after the pandemic, from 21 to 19 January 2023 in Dusseldorf, with more than 1,500 exhibitors from 68 countries in 16 exhibition halls, with a focus on sustainability: blue innovation dock, love your ocean and ocean tribute award.

Finally, BOOT is back. The water sports community and the Düsseldorf trade fair organisers are pleased this year the Exhibition will break new records. What was the annual highlight for the industry until 2020, had to take a forced break due to the pandemic.

BOOT Düsseldorf 2023 – from 21 to 29 January, nine days of trade and tourism fair await the water sports enthusiasts and the tourism professionals, with numerous boat and yacht premieres, a new diving tower, the sustainability forum “blue innovation dock”, tips for beginners and professional sailors and with wingfoiling and wingsurfing, the hottest current water sports trends will await their fans.

Island and coastal holiday regions from all over the world in the “Destination Seaside” will entice the visitors. In figures this means: over 1,500 exhibitors in 16 exhibition halls on an area of 31 football pitches, calculated into square metres: 220,000!

Businesses – companies from 68 countries are on board. Nine hands-on activities and theme worlds invite sports enthusiasts and sea lovers to put their hand to the tiller themselves, get on the board, dive in, paddle or simply listen to exciting reports and exchange ideas with like-minded people.

In the 54 years of its existence, BOOT Düsseldorf has also repeatedly proven itself to be a driver of innovation. As early as the 1970s and 1980s there were numerous forums on the subject of marine research. Diving pioneer Jacques-Yves Cousteau quoted saying: “The prerequisite for knowledge is curiosity” – had chosen BOOT as his presentation platform and proclaimed here the protection of the seas as the declared goal of divers.

In 2023, boot once again proves to be the initiator and motor for marine and water protection as well as a sustainable strategy in boat building and marina expansion. The "blue innovation doc” in Hall 10 will provide impetus for EU-wide measures over the nine days of the fair. The “love your ocean” stand in Hall 14 will also delight little explorers. There will be large measuring instruments from marine research, a microplastics lab and an algae lab to explore.

The “Ocean Tribute Award” whose list of winners includes Boris Herrmann with his Malizia team, BOOT Düsseldorf, together with the Monegasque Prince Albert II Foundation and the German Ocean Foundation, have created an internationally highly regarded and renowned prize. This year the “Ocean Tribute Award” will again be presented live in front of an audience on 23 January. The speech for the winner will be held by the well-known actor and ocean activist Hannes Jaenicke.

BOOT Düsseldorf has been the home port and driving engine for international water sports for 54 years now. From 21 to 29 January 2023, it will present all facets of boating with all top-notch brands on board. Both yachtsmen and powerboaters will find a comprehensive line-up here ranging from small entry-price boats and dinghies to luxury yachts. In focus at BOOT will be diving, surfing, SUP and angling. Due to the exhibitors’ innovative and technically sophisticated products, BOOT is the international innovations platform of the industry kicking off the new water sports season every year in January.

The extensive tourism activities ranges for holidays and sports on, by and in, the water, will be presented at the “Destination Seaside”, which will again attract all those wishing to spend their leisure time by the seaside, riverside and lakes. There will be stage programmes with interesting interview partners from the sector, the latest trending sports offered and a high- calibre blend of workshops and meetings, both for leisure sports people and experts, to make this trade fair unique the world over.

All these presentations and activities will make BOOT Düsseldorf the No.1 destination for both family watersports fans and international experts again in 2023.
