EMITT-Istanbul used to be done in February instead of May and the venue was a bit far away from the center of Istanbul. Starting from this year EMITT is being held at TUYAP Exhibition Center with the capacity of 5000 sqm. Area in Istanbul nearby Taksim Square which will give a great opportunity to the exhibitors to promote their destinations with their special shows such as folk dancing with their special clothes and music, singing etc. starting from the opening ceremony till the end of the show at the exhibition area and time to time on the very popular street near by the venue.
EMITT 2001 will be organize in May starting from this year which gives an opportunity to the exhibitors to sell and promote their destinations to directly to their clients just before Turkish people organize their own holidays for summer and winter. The period of EMITT-Istanbul Fair has been optimized by making it 5 instead of 4 days and by moving this period to the end of May, which is the beginning point of the sales of summer holiday tour packages in Turkey. EMITT-Istanbul 2001 Fair will be held between 23-27 May dates in 5 days period. The Fair will be open to only professionals and an international forum called "E-Travel" will be held in its first day. The last four days will be open to the public and the consumers with the special shows, holiday draws organized by the exhibitors.
Turkish Airlines as an official carrier of EMITT, gives 25% discount over special price for the flight tickets to all the international participants, trade visitors and press 15 days before and 15 days after EMITT 2001. The official Hotels of EMITT will apply to them also special rate.
Istanbul is where 90% of the outgoings from Turkey occur. Turkish outgoing market has grown significantly in recent years and has reached a volume of 2 million pax. About 100 tour operators dominate this market and the majority of these tour operators will participate EMITT-Istanbul. 100.000 professional and consumer visitors are targeted for the EMITT-Istanbul Fair. This figure has exceeded 55.000 in EMITT-2000. So far more than 100 companies from 20 countries participated to EMITT 2001.
Ekin Fair Organization and Management will also organizing an incoming show for only trade visitors as MEDITT-Antalya show in 22-24th, November 2001 in Antalya, focusing on incoming tourism and targeting only professionals which was organized with great success between 22-25 November last year.
