Valpas plans to reach 2 million hotel beds using its “hospitality standard” by 2030

Valpas recently raised 4 million euros in seed funding led by Zenith VC to increase installation in properties following exceptionally high demand.

HELSINKI, FINLAND – Valpas, the travel platform for bed bug safe and non-toxic stays, unveiled ambitious plans to grow the number of beds in hotels using the Valpas “hospitality standard” by 50x to reach 2 million by the end of 2030 following hitting 40,000 beds during 2024.

This follows the recent news that Valpas secured 4m euros in seed funding in a round led by Zenith VC alongside Icebreaker VC, Finnish Industry Investment, Canon Marketing Japan MIRAI Fund, Activum SG Ventures, Houghton Street Ventures, Rockaway Ventures and Morrow Ventures.

In the shorter term, this investment will be used to double the amount of beds in properties – currently over 40,000 beds in hotels flagged under premium brands including Accor Hotels, The Luxury Collection, Design Hotels, ARP-Hansen and Bob W in over 40 destinations – through the production and installation of the Valpas tech on site during 2025.

As part of this the Valpas ‘hospitality standard’ guarantee is now in place in Europe, Mexico and Japan, responding to a problem that currently costs the hospitality industry 15bn euros a year in lost revenues and environmentally damaging pesticide cleaning fees (plus incalculable reputational damage).

Martim Gois, CEO and Co-Founder of Valpas said:“Today, millions of travelers take their own precautions – for example checking the bed thoroughly for signs of bed bugs when they check-in – at hotels every day without staff ever noticing it, afraid of carrying bed bugs home. The best hoteliers understand this, and respond to it by affiliating them with the Valpas platform and guaranteeing a safe and sustainable stay. Historically, bed bugs have been a touchy topic, but guaranteed safe hotels are what the traveler wants.”

Valpas’ solution centres around a guest promise of a bed bug safe and non-toxic stay, visible to travelers via their certificate that integrates with hotel websites, booking platforms and OTAs. The guest promise is guaranteed thanks to their in-room technology of smart anti-bed bug beds legs that interrupts the transmission of bed bugs at first contact in every room permanently, and connects to an app for a digital certificate 24/7.
