2013, an amazing year for Heritage Resorts, Mauritius

2013 has been an exciting year for Heritage Resorts, with the opening of a new restaurant, new golfing initiatives, award wins, as well as the launch of a new holiday package.

MAURITIUS – Heritage Resorts operates two five star hotels – Heritage Le Telfair Golf & Spa Resort and Heritage Awali Golf & Spa Resort – and a villa resort – Heritage The Villas – in the southwest of Mauritius. All set in the stunning Domaine de Bel Ombre, this 2,500 hectare estate is home to the Frederica Nature Reserve, a championship golf course, kitesurfing school, twelve restaurants, C Beach Club, two kids clubs, a teens club, two spas and a fitness centre.

Foodie news

Heritage Resorts is renowned for its impressive food and beverage offering, with 12 restaurants including Annabella’s – located on the banks of the river with an open and interactive show-kitchen, Gin’ja – a Pan Asian restaurant on the beach offering a teppanyaki experience, the African-themed open-air Boma and Le Chateau de Bel Ombre – an enchanting 19th century Manor house.

Le Chateau de Bel Ombre, now sources 90% of its ingredients from around the Domaine de Bel Ombre, truly encompassing the ‘farm-to-table’ concept. With an emphasis on authentic Mauritian cuisine, Le Chateau’s menu features local game such as venison and wild boar, native fruit and vegetables grown on the estate and freshly-picked herbs and spices, particular to Mauritius. Set in a French-style garden, guests can enjoy views of the verdant hills, azure ocean and sugar fields of the Domaine de Bel Ombre.

At the end of this year, Saffron, the Domaine’s 12th restaurant was opened at Heritage Awali. Saffron serves Indian cuisine in an intimate atmosphere, an ideal place for a romantic candlelit dinner. With a large proportion of Mauritius’ population being of Indian descent, Mauritian cuisine is heavily influenced by the flavours of India so Saffron comes as a welcome addition, allowing guests to go on a culinary journey through India.

Golfing news

Heritage Golf Club’s award-winning Championship 18-hole course covers over 100 acres of tropical terrain, dotted with natural ponds and lakes with palm trees dominating the fairways. An environmentally-friendly course, Heritage Golf Club was crafted with the utmost care to incorporate the features of its natural landscape.  All Heritage Resorts’ guests benefit from free green fees throughout their stay.

New for this year, Heritage Golf Club installed state of the art GPS systems on all of its golf carts which now feature:

  • High resolution colour image of each hole with yardages to the flag and points of interest
  • 3D flyovers of every hole
  • Electronic scorecard that can be sent to golfers’ e-mail at the end of the round
  • Real time leader board for tournaments o Convenient food & beverage ordering
  • Messaging to the clubhouse or marshal in case of emergencies, etc.

Award wins

This year was a successful one for Heritage Resorts at the World Luxury Travel Awards, which are regarded as the Oscars for the luxury hotel industry and are known as the highest accolade a property can receive. Heritage Le Telfair Golf & Spa Resort won the award for Best Luxury Beach Resort in the Indian Ocean, whilst Heritage Awali Golf & Spa Resort was named Best Luxury Golf Resort in the Indian Ocean.

Girls Fly Out holiday

Heritage Le Telfair is hoping to entice the girls to Mauritius for a football-free retreat with their Girls Fly Out holiday, while the boys are engrossed in the 2014 World Cup.
