Miramonte Resort & Spa unveils $9m. property-wide renovation, transforming the desert resort into a contemporary Mediterranean retreat.

INDIAN WELLS, CA. – In the greater Palm Springs area, Miramonte Resort & Spa announces the completion of its $9 million renovation and reimagining, transforming the resort’s 11 secluded acres into a contemporary version of a classic Mediterranean retreat. Recently acquired by Los Angeles-based developer Lowe, and managed by CoralTree Hospitality, the resort’s refresh includes a redesign of many of its 215 guestrooms – with the remaining rooms set to be completed by fall 2022 – as well as renovated outdoor social gathering spaces including restaurant and bar patios featuring a newly planted olive grove, new signature fire wall plus six new fire pits, and updated pool areas. Additional updates include a new treatment menu at The Well Spa and new Mediterranean-inspired menus at Citrus & Palm restaurant and The Tavern Bar. The property also introduces localized experiences that reflect the brand’s promise as an “Estate of Wellbeing” and invites visitors to enjoy wellness offerings that are unique to the property and region.

“We are excited to reintroduce the elevated resort to the community and travelers from all over the world,” said General Manager, Ajit Acharya. “This transformation was designed to meet the needs of today’s leisure and business travelers while paying respect to Miramonte’s rich history, stunning location and the unique culture of the Coachella Valley. From our new spa menu and Mediterranean-inspired dining options to the reimagined spaces throughout the property, we’ve created a luxurious wellness escape and know guests will appreciate the attention to detail we put into this renovation.”

Led by HFS Concepts 4, the design highlights the classic Spanish Mediterranean architecture perfectly situated against spectacular views of the Santa Rosa Mountains.

Winding garden pathways through mature citrus trees and a newly planted olive tree grove with hanging lanterns and outdoor fire pits, add to the atmosphere of an intimate desert oasis. Key to the story of Miramonte, outdoor spaces are derived from a vintage-inspired color palette of black and white reflecting Palm Springs’ past, mixed with subtle splashes of burnt orange, rust and teal to incorporate the natural colors that exist on property, from the citrus trees to the horizon at sunset. The resort’s contemporary interiors reflect the upscale surroundings that the Miramonte guest expects – luxurious guestrooms, indoor and outdoor meeting, dining and bar spaces, plus leisure and recreational amenities – all reflecting the feeling of an oasis where comfort and luxury meet.

A modern Mediterranean retreat, Miramonte Resort & Spa’s select refreshed guestrooms and villas are woven into 11 expansive acres of fragrant citrus groves, olive trees and flower gardens. The two-story bougainvillea-covered bungalows welcome guests with grand archways to newly designed rooms, many featuring a private patio or balcony with dazzling garden and mountain views. The updated room designs strategically connect to the property’s classic architecture and the surrounding landscape, with contemporary details such as tailored upholstered headboards, hand forged metal accents and art reflecting the grounds of the luxury resort.

The resort’s signature restaurant, Citrus & Palm, offers contemporary Mediterranean cuisine with a menu featuring flavors and inspiration from Morocco to the South of France, alongside a wine list with selections from across the Mediterranean and California. Utilizing fresh ingredients as well as ingredients grown on property, the restaurant’s dishes and cocktails incorporate herbs from the chef’s garden and citrus and olives sourced directly from the resort’s historic groves.

Adjacent to Citrus & Palm, The Tavern Bar offers shareable dishes inspired by American favorites, prepared with Mediterranean ingredients. An extensive selection of hand-crafted cocktails, wine and craft beers make The Tavern an ideal place for a pre-dinner drink or a nightcap, whether watching a sports game on the bar’s televisions or enjoying the stunning Santa Rosa Mountains from the outdoor patio.

Pulling from the property’s heritage of citrus, palm, and olive trees, the exterior patio zones adjacent to Citrus & Palm and The Tavern have been transformed to become the “Olive Grove,” where an inspired landscape allows for guests to dine under or next to lush olive trees. During the day they provide refuge for shade, and at night they are lit from the lanterns hanging above from the trees, activating the space and connecting it with the interior zones of the main lobby. Guests can also venture to the upstairs terrace overlooking the landscape, where they can sip on a cocktail by the fireplace and enjoy listening to live music on Friday and Saturday nights.

Citrus & Palm is open daily from 7am – 3pm for brunch and 5pm – 9pm for dinner; and The Tavern Bar is open from 3pm – 9pm Sunday through Thursday, and 3pm – 10pm Friday through Saturday, with happy hour from 3pm – 6pm daily.

Miramonte Resort & Spa offers more than 35,000 square-feet of multipurpose indoor and outdoor space for meetings and corporate events for up to 500 guests. The resort’s five sophisticated meeting venues include the grand Mesquite Ballroom, signature Mesquite Lawn, intimate Juniper and Ocotillo Ballrooms, and second story Miramonte Terrace with a grand stone fireplace and cathedral columns.

With a commitment to wellness, the property’s award-winning Well Spa features a new menu of wellness treatments and rituals developed under the leadership of Miramonte’s Spa Director, Cristina Cascio, who drew inspiration from the healing powers of the surrounding desert. The l2,000-square-foot spa provides a luxurious wellness escape with nine indoor treatment rooms, eucalyptus-infused steam rooms, outdoor meditation dens and hot and cold soaking pools for pre- and post-treatment relaxation. Signature treatments include the Seasonal Body Scrub & Massage, incorporating hand-picked citrus from the property’s on-site groves; Precious Gemstone Facial, which utilizes energy from 45 different crystals to detoxify, tighten and increase skin’s appearance; and the Raindrop Therapy Massage, a 50-minute aromatherapy treatment with essential oils. Groups can rent out the intimate spa for a private wellness retreat or participate in relaxing breakout activities such as yoga on the lawn, a sound bath session with a local Shaman, or creating bath salts and body oils using citrus from the property’s groves.

The signature Miramonte pool has been refreshed with new lounge chairs and umbrellas, private cabanas and a new poolside menu of small bites and tropical drinks. The resort also features a spacious new outdoor dining and bar patio amongst the olive groves, with six new fire pits and a signature fire wall, new bocce ball court and plush seating for guests to relax, socialize and enjoy the stunning mountain landscape, cocktails and delicious dining. Three additional fire pits and a second bocce ball court are located at other areas of the resort.

New on-property activations at Miramonte Resort & Spa include a citrus-infused champagne craft cocktail or non-alcoholic drink at check-in, fresh lavender in guestrooms to promote relaxation, and nightly fire wall lighting ceremony at dusk, in addition to scheduled wellness activities at the fitness center and Well Spa.
