Avenue of the Arts Hotel Costa Mesa officially joins Tribute Portfolio brand, unveils new renovation

Starwood’s 10th brand gives SPG members more choice in Orange County, California with a property that pays homage to local architecture.

STAMFORD, CONN. – Tribute Portfolio, part of Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide, Inc. announced its further expansion in southern California with the addition of Avenue of the Arts Hotel Costa Mesa, now bookable for SPG members and guests following a multi-million dollar upgrade. The 238-room property is located in the heart of the city’s corporate and culture center and performing arts district, steps away from South Coast Plaza. Owned by Wincome Group, the addition of Avenue of the Arts Costa Mesa, a Tribute Portfolio Hotel, keeps the brand on track to doubling its growth expectations by its one year anniversary.

“We are so proud to have worked with the hotel’s ownership team to give SPG members and guests the ability to ‘Stay Independent’ in Orange County,” said Dave Marr, Global Brand Leader for Tribute Portfolio. “We know the newly renovated Avenue of the Arts Hotel Costa Mesa will deliver a truly unforgettable California experience, from its locally-inspired design to the distinct touches that make it a true indie experience.”

The hotel’s lakeside location invites guests to enjoy a number of modern amenities all while soaking up the California sun. Perfect for all types of travelers, guests can go for a run on the three-acre property or spend a relaxing day by the pool in one of the private cabanas. Guests can also dine on modern California cuisine at the Silver Trumpet Restaurant and Bar, a full service dining experience with seasonally driven menus by Executive Chef Eddie Garcia. Additionally, Avenue of the Arts Costa Mesa, a Tribute Portfolio Hotel, offers a fully equipped fitness center, including whirlpool and sauna facilities.

The renovation was designed and executed by celebrated architecture and interior design firm Dianna Wong. In a nod to the high-fashion lifestyle and vibrant arts scene in the Orange County community, each of the guest rooms and suites features luxurious granite bathrooms, hardwood floors and design elements inspired by both the Art Deco and Art Nouveau movements. The overall style of the renovation is based on the arts, referencing local architecture in its design as well as locally-inspired art throughout the hotel. A combination of warm metals juxtaposed against a cooler architectural palate featured touches of gilding, rose gold and polished brass. These details are thoughtfully carried throughout the hotel’s public spaces from chandeliers to furnishings and fixtures. Shades of cream, pearl and dark gray are highlighted in fabrics, paints and flooring that convey a modern feel.

In addition to re-thought design in the guestrooms, California-based artist Paul Olson created unique artwork for the rooms, in a theme referencing local roots in architecture, agriculture and performing arts. Working with a monochromatic color scheme, large scale digital photo murals appear in every guestroom.

The four-diamond property has seven flexible meeting rooms, totaling 6,800 square feet of space, including an executive boardroom that can accommodate up to 250 banquet guests. The hotel also offers a team of talented on-site wedding planners and culinary artists that can help plan magnificent weddings, using the lake as a stunning backdrop.

“By teaming up with Tribute Portfolio, we are able to stay true to the Avenue of the Arts Hotel Costa Mesa’s independent spirit,” said Paul Sanford, Asset Manager for Wincome Management and Development. “Starwood’s renowned loyalty program and distribution system will allow us to share the newly renovated property’s distinct features with even more future guests.”
