Benchmark appoints Deborah E. Tant Director of Finance for the Doug Pitcock ’49 Texas A&M Hotel and Conference Center

Benchmark also names Domingo Rivera Director of Human Resources for Hotel Contessa, San Antonio, Texas.

THE WOODLANDS (HOUSTON), TEXAS – Benchmark, a global hospitality company, has named Deborah E. Tant controller for the Doug Pitcock ’49 Texas A&M Hotel and Conference Center, which is nearing completion in College Station, Texas. The Benchmark Resorts & Hotels property is expected to open this month. Greg Stafford, general manager, made the announcement.

“It is such a pleasure to welcome Deborah to our team,” said Mr. Stafford. “Not only is she highly qualified, she is a long-time Benchmark executive and keenly aware of the company’s signature ‘Be the Difference’ service philosophy. She will be an important part of our executive team.”

A longtime Benchmark executive, Deborah Tant was previously controller for The Chattanoogan Hotel, a property operated by Benchmark in Chattanooga, Tennessee. For three years, Ms. Tant served as corporate controller and also special task force controller for Benchmark, operating out of the company’s home office near Houston. Prior to this she was assistant controller for the Eldorado Hotel & Spa, a property in Santa Fe, New Mexico, that Benchmark operated at the time.

Also, Benchmark has appointed Domingo Rivera director of human resources for Hotel Contessa, a AAA Four Diamond-rated all-suite hotel set in downtown San Antonio, Texas, on the city’s legendary Riverwalk. Troy Mathews, general manager for the Benchmark Resorts & Hotels property, made the announcement.

"It is a pleasure to welcome Domingo to Hotel Contessa and to Benchmark,” said Mr. Mathews. “He brings important experience within the human resources discipline to our hotel, gained at diverse properties and in equally diverse markets. He is an excellent addition to our executive team.”

With nearly three decades of human resources management and leadership experience, Domingo Rivera comes to Hotel Contessa from the Marriott Customer Engagement Center, located in San Antonio and one of the brand’s largest call centers. While with the Marriott Center, he served in the role of human resources manager.

Previously, Mr. Rivera held the position of assistant director of human resources for the Sheraton New York Times Square and the W Union Square. Over his distinguished career, he has served in human resource positions for properties within multiple leading brands, including Starwood Hotels and Resorts, Omni and Marriott International. He began his career while still in high school, serving as human resources clerk for the Holt Company of Texas.

A native of San Antonio, Domingo Rivera attended University of Phoenix. He resides in San Antonio.
