Best Western embarks on latest CSR mission for a greener world

Best Western International recently held the Green Project Activity #3- 2011 ‘Best Western Grows Mangrove Forest’ as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) program. The activity was organized by Best Western International – Asia & Middle East head office in conjunction with Mangrovestation 6, supported by the hotel members residing in Thailand.

“As we continue to expand our hotel network throughout the region, Best Western aims to grow with the societies and communities in which it takes part, and to play a leading role in making the world a better place,” commented Glenn de Souza, Best Western International’s Vice President International Operations – Asia & Middle East.

The CRS mission is designed to create the green awareness while helping the brand to strengthen relationship between the corporate staff and the hotel members within the chain. The full day event started early in the morning of Saturday 17 September to Embouchure in Petchaburi province. Upon arrival team members attended the learning and educational session to learn about the local ecosystem before venturing into the area’s mangrove forestation. After lunch, the afternoon was spent visiting Plearnwan and The Eco Vintage Village before the trip back to Bangkok.

Also playing their part for a healthy environment, staff from Best Western Allamanda Laguna Phuket recently joined staff from Laguna Phuket in a mangrove planting activity. The team planted 2,800 mangrove saplings at Baan Bangrong on Phuket, in what is an annual tree planting event to raise awareness of global warming and help build greener communities.
