According to Israeli Ministry of Tourism statistics, 1.4 million tourist overnight stays were recorded in Tel Aviv area hotels in the first eight months of 2005, 1.16 million of which were in city hotels themselves.
Of note were increases in overnight stays of tourists from France (+32% compared to the same period in 2004), Germany (+54%), U.S. (+48%) and the UK (+27%).
Ministry Director General Eli Cohen says the addition of flights from the U.S. and Europe is boosting Tel Aviv`s reputation as a preferred tourist destination. This reputation will be further enhanced by Israeli tourism marketing campaigns in Germany, France and Britain.
