Capella Hotels and Resorts celebrates top rankings in Travel + Leisure’s 2021 World’s Best Awards

Capella Bangkok and Capella Ubud were awarded the No. 1 spot in their respective categories.

Lauded for its legacy of highly personalised service and visionary curation of culture and experiences, Capella Hotels and Resorts has once again been recognised in Travel + Leisure World’s Best Awards – as voted by readers. Capella Ubud, Bali retained its titles as No. 1 Resort in Asia and Indonesia, while Capella Bangkok – the group’s urban resort that opened last October – was named No.1 City Hotel in Bangkok and No.2 City Hotel in Asia. Capella Hotels and Resorts was also awarded the No.2 Hotel Brand in the World for the second consecutive year. In the overall list of 100 hotels and resorts, Capella Bangkok and Capella Ubud were also voted as the No. 4 Best Hotel and No.5 Best Hotel in the World, respectively.

We are humbled by the support from our guests and readers of Travel + Leisure," said Nicholas Clayton, CEO of Capella Hotel Group. "These prestigious recognitions represent the dedication and creativity of our colleagues at Capella Bangkok and Capella Ubud. Despite the circumstances of the past year, our team never faltered in delivering exceptional experiences to our guests, whether it is through sharing cultural moments on social media or curating activities that would enrich our domestic guests’ stay.”

Marked by sprawling lush grounds, Capella Bangkok presents travellers with a cocoon of tranquillity while being in the heart of Bangkok. Its esteemed location on Thailand’s oldest paved road, Charoenkrung – where cultural heritage meets the city’s trendiest cafes, bars and art galleries – immerses guests into Bangkok’s storied past and present; while the hotel’s unique architecture ensures intimate views of the majestic Chao Phraya River no matter where you stand in the property. Epicurean experiences uplift the stay, with Côte, its signature restaurant curated by threeMichelin-starred chef Mauro Colagreco, and Thai speciality restaurant Phra Nakhon featuring a sundappled terrace on the river's edge. Tucked away in a boudoir-like corner is Stella, an intimate cocktail bar that features astute bartending alongside an omakase dessert experience. At the resort’s lush landscaped gardens is Auriga Wellness — its spa sanctuary which blends traditional treatment techniques with advanced science.

Named No.1 Resort in Asia and No.1 Resort in Indonesia for the second year in a row, Capella Ubud is a refined retreat with 23 individually-styled tents. Designed by celebrated architect Bill Bensley, the rainforest camp sets the standard for sustainable hospitality design, with all trees and natural landscape left untouched and protected throughout the build process. Respect for the environment extends to the dining and spa experiences. At the organic Keliki Garden, chefs hard-harvest indigenous vegetables and spices herbs, as well as freshwater delicacies for their dishes, while spa therapists incorporate local herbs into traditional wellness treatments.

To thank voters and guests for their never-ending support, Capella Hotels and Resorts will be offering guests a complimentary one-night extension when they book a stay at Capella Ubud and Capella Bangkok1. The limited-time offer is available for booking from now until 31 September 2021, with a stay period between now and 31 March 2022.

All eyes will be on Capella Hotels and Resorts in the next four years, as the ultra-luxury hospitality brand is on track to expand rapidly with planned properties in Sydney, Maldives, South Korea, USA, Japan and the Middle East. Capella Hotels and Resorts has been operating in Asia since 2012, with its flagship property in Singapore.

1 Capella Bangkok’s one-night complimentary stay is only available for Villa and Verandah Suites.
