Casa la Siesta opens ‘The Stables’

Ultra stylish ‘Bert & May’ designed ‘showhome’ villa within hotel grounds.

Casa la Siesta, the boutique hotel located near Vejer de la Frontera on Andalucia’s Costa de la Luz in Spain, has just opened a new two bedroom villa, The Stables, within its grounds for guests to enjoy.

Set apart from the main hotel courtyard, this ultra-stylish pad is perfect for four friends or a family who want the best of both worlds – the services of a luxury small hotel and the privacy of a holiday bolthole. Furniture and fittings are all from Bert & May, the hotel owner’s London based interiors business and offer a more contemporary look and feel than the rest of the hotel which remains more ‘rustic cortijo’, with the use of natural wood, polished concrete and muted tones.

The Stables, so named due to its former use, offers an interior look and feel with a large dose of cool – designed and fitted out entirely by Bert & May, it’s a little slice of urban chic in the countryside of Cadiz. Think reclaimed Spanish tiles and REN products in the bathrooms, herringbone tiles and concrete work surfaces and sink in the kitchen, copper tap piping and exposed softly-glowing filament light bulbs.

With its own private kitchen and dining room, guests can choose to self-cater or have the hotel’s chef cater for them in the luxury of their own private space. There is also a direct telephone line to the hotel’s reception, so room service can be ordered.

There are two huge light-filled bedrooms, a private lawned garden and courtyard for outdoor dining or sunbathing, a wood burning stove for cooler nights, the option to add an extra bed to the living room and private parking right outside. All this with the option to stroll over to the ‘Casa’ for a swim and good food and drink and have a therapist come to the Stables for any massages.

Bedrooms have super comfortable beds with soft cotton waffle linen and there are bifold doors onto a private lawn area. The living area uses Bert & May’s own inky distressed fabric, screen printed in Britain, to upholster Ercol chairs with soft rugs on a tiled floor and sofas perfect for lounging. The Stables really is a ‘showroom’ for the bespoke homeware brand.

The building faces west and thus enjoy fantastic sunsets with a courtyard the perfect spot for morning coffee or evening sundowners. The master bedroom has a king-sized bed (150cm) and the second bedroom can be adapted into a twin room or a huge 180cm bed. There is a large luxury bathroom with huge shower as well as a separate toilet.

As well as all the honesty bar and restaurant the hotel’s communal, heated, 17m salt-water pool with lawn and comfortable daybeds is available to guests at The Stables. Although plans for a private pool for The Stables are afoot.

Families are welcome to book the villa, however outside the hotel’s designated family weeks, the hotel’s own dining and bar areas will not be open to children.

Casa la Siesta is just 1 hour from Gibraltar airport and was opened nine years ago. With 2 lawn-lined swimming pools (one heated) and nine double en-suite guestrooms, each with their own private terrace and unique decorative style, luxury runs throughout Casa la Siesta which is mainly an adult only enclave, with the exception of the family weeks during Easter, Summer and Autumn half term school holidays. Within the hotel grounds there is also the Casita La Siesta, a three bedroom standalone villa with its own 11 metre private pool.
