Check-in and logon with complimentary high-speed Internet at The Ritz London

The upgrade to the network at The Ritz London involved the installation of a designated guest Internet line capable of delivering an Internet feed of 400Mb.

When The Ritz London opened in 1906, guests were afforded services and amenities that had not been seen in London luxury hotels previously such as en-suite bathrooms, fireplaces and double-glazing for every bedroom. These unique provisions along with the visible grandeur of the Hotel and the unprecedented levels of service afforded to guests, identified The Ritz London as a benchmark for other hotels. Continuing our culture of setting benchmarks, The Ritz London has completed an intensive 12 week network upgrade in order to provide all of our guests with complimentary Wi-Fi access at speeds that have not been provided in London luxury hotels before.

“From listening to our guests we learned that convenient and fast Internet access is an essential requirement of theirs, whether they are staying for business or leisure purposes. Moreover, given how readily available Internet access is either via public Wi-Fi or 3G networks, charging for Internet access is an additional expense we do not want to continue to burden our guests with. The Ritz London has earned a reputation for providing the best to its guests, for exceeding expectations, and so simply providing Internet access on a complimentary basis was an insufficient measure by our standards therefore, we chose to invest considerably in a network upgrade to ensure our guests not only benefit from complimentary Internet access but also enjoy download speeds that are unsurpassed in the London luxury hotel sector” said Stephen Boxall, Managing Director of The Ritz London.

The upgrade to the network at The Ritz London involved the installation of a designated guest Internet line capable of delivering an Internet feed of 400Mb. In addition to this, 173 wireless access points were installed throughout the guest bedrooms, private dining & event suites, and public areas, to ensure delivery of strong Wi-Fi signals. Whereas previously guests were required to pay for Internet access, they will now benefit from complimentary access anywhere in the Hotel and can connect up to 10 independent devices such as laptops, tablets and smartphones, which will all benefit from download speeds of up to 50Mbps.
