Christina Mattsson returns in an expanded role as Director of Recreational Experiences at The Woodstock Inn & Resort

Christina Mattsson will oversee the management of all recreational programming and initiatives across the resort including daily operations at Saskadena Six Ski Area, the Woodstock Country Club, the Spa, the Nordic Center, the Athletic Club, and the Activity Center. 

WOODSTOCK, VT – The Woodstock Inn & Resort announces the appointment of Christina Mattsson as the director of recreational experiences, effective September 18, 2022.

In this newly expanded role, Mattsson will oversee the management of all recreational programming and initiatives across the resort including daily operations at Saskadena Six Ski Area, the Woodstock Country Club, the Spa, the Nordic Center, the Athletic Club, and the Activity Center. 

Mattsson served as the director of recreational experiences for two years prior to a brief departure to North Carolina earlier this year. She previously served as the outdoor programs director after starting with the company as sports programming director in 2017.

Prior to joining the Resort team, Mattsson was the director of children’s programs at the Killington Snow Sports School and owned and co-operated two fitness and wellness-based companies. Mattsson holds an M.A.Ed. in Curriculum & Instructional Methods and has been certified as a mountain bike instructor, master horseback riding instructor, snowboard instructor, personal trainer, in addition to several other specialized fitness certifications.

Projected to open December 14, the Resort’s newly named Saskadena Six Ski Area, formerly known as Suicide Six, is suitable for skiers of all ages and abilities and offers more than 100 acres of skiing and snowboarding available on 24 trails and slopes. One of the oldest ski areas in the country, Saskadena Six, which translates to “Standing Mountain” in the Abenaki language, is known for its intimate atmosphere with shorter than average lift times and is open Wednesday – Sunday this season and daily during peak periods.

The Resort offers year-round activities including Orvis-endorsed fly fishing, golf at the Woodstock Country Club with a course designed by Robert Trent Jones, Sr., falconry, mountain biking, and tennis, swimming, and an assortment of group fitness classes including yoga, barre, Pilates, and more at the Athletic Club, a 42,000 square foot facility. More than 45 km of trails, both groomed and ungroomed, await guests at the Woodstock Nordic Center, where guests can partake in cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, and more. Guests can wind down at the Spa, a 10,000 square foot, LEED-Certified wellness retreat that utilizes organic products and seasonal treatments.
