Colin Gooch named Director of Golf at Griffin Gate Marriott Resort & Spa

Rees-Jones-designed course at Lexington, KY hotel recently underwent $1 million bunker renovation.

LEXINGTON, KY – Colin Gooch has been appointed to the position of Director of Golf for the Griffin Gate Marriott Resort & Spa.

Gooch brings over 15 years of golf industry experience to his new role at the Lexington, KY hotel, where he will be responsible for overseeing all golf operations including membership, retail merchandising, outings and tournaments, and overall golf shop operations of Griffin Gate Golf Club.  

A graduate of the PGA Golf Management University program at Methodist College in Fayetteville, NC, Gooch began his Marriott career during his freshman year in college, serving as an intern at Stone Mountain Golf Club. Since then he has served in various golf operations capacities at high-end private clubs, destination resorts and public facilities.

His extensive Marriott experience is highlighted by previous roles as the Head Golf Professional at both Westfields Golf Club and Marriott's Shadow Ridge Golf Club. Most recently, Gooch held the position of Head Golf Professional at Jupiter Country Club, a private facility in Jupiter, FL. 

Backed by a wealth of experience and tremendous leadership qualities, Gooch has a track record of success, consistently delivering outstanding results at each respective facility.

He recognizes that attention to detail and superior customer service are priorities to retain and build customers and is committed to ensuring all guests enjoy a memorable experience each time they visit the course at the hotel in Lexington, KY.

Gooch said he looks forward to becoming part of the golf community in Lexington and is excited to serve as Director of Golf at the newly renovated Griffin Gate Golf Club, backed by a $1 million bunker renovation project in 2015 under the direction of Rees Jones, who designed the original layout in 1981.
