Cool Camping launches Coronavirus booking guarantee

A chance to put a camping break in the diary with a low deposit and full flexibility.

Now it is looking more hopeful that at least a UK holiday, or even a trip to France may be possible later this Summer, Cool Camping has launched a Coronavirus booking guarantee, aimed at giving consumers confidence against the backdrop of uncertainty on the actual timing of when we will be allowed to travel.

The guarantee is two-pronged so that campers and glampers can feel confident from a financial commitment point of view as well the social distancing measures being implemented by each site. Cool Camping is featuring all sites who have signed up to the scheme on this handy link: https://coolcamping.com/coronavirus/coronavirus-booking-guarantee

The finances – a deposit of just 20% is required to secure a booking with the balance not due until 10 days before the holiday start date. There is complete flexibility to move bookings for up to 18 months in the event of Coronavirus restrictions no longer making it possible to travel.

The safety on site – Social distancing measures – Cool Camping has set up a new feature on the website to allow campsites to add social distancing information and tags to their listing.

The safety and social distancing measures being readied include designated time slots for showers, at least 10 metre spacing between tents, reducing capacity/ adding an extra meadow and installing extra shows and toilets.

Coolcamping.com features over 600 sites across the UK and has a choice of 190 in France too.

Right since the business started back in 2006 with its first guidebook in print,  the focus has always been about lesser known smaller sites – those that popped up for a month, provided a few pitches across several acres or were a glamping edition to a working farm. It has never been about large, commercial and pack ‘em in sites.

Founder of Cool Camping Jonathan Knight reflects on the nation’s desire to plan their next camping adventure saying, "Booking revenues on Cool Camping have increased 5-fold since Boris Johnson set out the phased approach to easing lockdown, compared to previous weeks, so there is clearly a pent-up demand to get away.

"Booking behaviour will be driven by government guidance, but there is a lot of uncertainty. Which is why we felt that introducing our Coronavirus Booking Guarantee was important – to give people more flexibility and also the chance to book something now to look forward to. The mooted date of 4th July is ideal timing not only for holidaymakers looking for a summer break, but also for campsites, and could totally save many camping businesses who have had no income this year,” added Knight.
