Crowne Plaza expands in Vietnam with opening in Danang

Crowne Plaza, one of the fastest growing upscale brands globally, has opened its second property in Vietnam at the coastal city of Danang.

Located along the picturesque Danang Sea coastline, the 535-guestroom Crowne Plaza Danang is the largest hotel in Central Vietnam by room count and offers a variety of meeting and event facilities which can cater for events of up to 640 people. It also offers a culinary experience for meeting planners and delegates through its wide variety of dining options, including Cantonese, Japanese, Korean, International and local Vietnamese.

“With the growth of MICE, we’re confident that Crowne Plaza Danang will be able to capitalise on this segment’s growth with our outstanding meeting facilities as well as what Crowne Plaza offers in delivering a unique meeting experience,” William Lau, General Manager, Crowne Plaza Danang.

“Crowne Plaza will bring a new level of international meetings expertise to Danang with our Crowne Meetings Director. Whether it’s an intimate event for 10 or a banquet for 600, our Crowne Meetings Director, a single point of contact, will be able to assist organisers personally from start to finish and deliver a successful event,” Lau added.

With its 2,500 square meters of meeting space, coupled with Crowne Plaza’s focus on meetings, the hotel is well positioned to cater to the requirements of the fast-growing MICE sector in Danang. Standards such as a dedicated Crowne Meetings Director, as a single point of contact, and a two-hr response time to initial query, will make planning seamless for meeting planners.

Previously known as Silver Shores International Resort, Crowne Plaza Danang is 15 minutes away from the Danang International Airport and only a few kilometers to the heart of the city’s most popular attractions.  These include UNESCO World Heritage sites such as the former imperial city, Hue and the scenic Phong Nha Ke Bang National Park.

“Vietnam has seen a steady annual growth of 10% in international and regional arrivals and we’re expecting to increase our reach in this market. With the opening of Crowne Plaza West Hanoi, now Danang and Nha Trang in the coming year, we are bullish about the local economy and the importance of Vietnam in the international travel scene. With these new hotels, we are able to create more jobs for local residents. We are delighted to be able to contribute to the fast pace of tourism development in Vietnam” said Alan Watts, Vice President of Operations for Southeast Asia, IHG.
