Delaware North Parks & Resorts invests over $23m in renovations at Several North American properties

Company will spend a total of nearly $32 million on renovations by the end of 2016.

BUFFALO, N.Y – Guests at more than a dozen of Delaware North‘s parks and resorts lodging locations will notice improvements designed to enhance their stay in the coming months – and through 2016 – including new furnishings, updated public spaces, larger high-definition  TVs, brand-new soft goods, modernized bathrooms and complete interior room overhauls.

The global hospitality management company, which operates at several national and state parks, is investing more than $23 million in renovations to 17 of its lodging properties across North America – continuing its mission of providing guests with lodging experiences that exceed expectations and enhance their visit.

The investment began in 2014 and will continue through the end of the 2016, resulting in a total renovation spend of nearly $32 million.

“Delaware North’s parks and resorts business has always taken great pride in the fact that it operates lodging in some of the most spectacular locations around the globe. These updates and renovations are the continuation of our commitment to creating lodging options that will elevate our guests’ experience during their visit,” said Ken Leone, vice president of lodging for Delaware North’s parks and resorts business.

For over five years, Delaware North has been working to update the hotels, resorts and cabins it operates as part of a larger lodging initiative. The long-term plan is to think beyond updates and renovations and focus on bringing unique lodging options to guests.

“From a design perspective, the goal is to create clean, simple and fresh accommodations across the board, and to institute consistent and standard room essentials at every location,” said Leone. “From an accommodations perspective, we are looking to bring alternative lodging experiences that complement the uniqueness of a location such as luxury cabineering, luxury tents, tree houses, and retro-themed recreational vehicle parks.”

Delaware North’s parks and resorts business began creating new lodging experiences in 2013 with the addition of 10 new luxury suites at Tenaya Lodge at Yosemite, near the national park. The suites are an interpretation of a luxuriously appointed Manhattan flat with Sierra Alpine decor featuring a living room space, two private balconies walk-in closet and full wet bar. Additionally, the Explorer Cabins at Yellowstone opened in June 2013. The Explorer Cabins are a new vacation concept – coined Cabineering – consisting of 50 Explorer Cabins, clustered into distinct camps; it was the first newly built lodging option in West Yellowstone, Mont., since 2007.

Delaware North’s lodging and hotel operations experience includes managing nearly 4,000 rooms in a variety of spectacular locations such as National Historic Landmarks, rustic High Sierra Camps, AAA Four Diamond hotels, seaside bungalows on Australia’s Great Barrier Reef, and more.
