Desert & Delta Safaris and Ker & Downey re-open five of their lodges on 1st December 2020

Desert & Delta Safaris is very excited to welcome guests back to the luxury lodges, and once again share the wonder of the Botswana wilderness through some of the country’s most highly sought-after destinations.

Botswana based Desert & Delta Safaris and its sister tour operator Ker & Downey announce the re-opening of five of their properties on the 1st December 2020: Desert & Delta’s Chobe Game Lodge, Savute Safari Lodge and Camp Moremi and Ker & Downey’s Shinde Camp and the Dinaka Safari Lodge.

Chobe Game Lodge – The Chobe Riverfront
The only permanent game lodge in Chobe National Park, the five-star Chobe Game Lodge is Botswana’s premier venue for exploring the National Park and the Chobe River. Home to the largest concentration of elephants in Africa, expert guides are on hand to navigate you through this incredibly biodiverse National Park. There is a choice of land and water-based activities including open-sided 4×4 drives and sunset cruises to ensure an up-close and unforgettable experience with buffalo, lions, wild dogs and giraffe.

Awarded full eco grading by Botswana Tourism Board, each of the 44 river-facing rooms features a private terrace. Relaxation is effortless; with a riverside boma, two bars, six different lounges and four dining locations, guests can take in the picturesque views from the comfort of a lounger.

Savute Safari Lodge – Savute Region
Savute Safari Lodge is located in the incredible Savute Region with its ever-changing channel and marsh. Offering 11 thatched chalets made from local timber and one, two double-bedroom family suite, the lodge ensures a private and relaxing environment. Open top 4×4 safari vehicles will allow guests to witness the spectacular summer zebra migration, which is the second-largest in Africa! Determined by the rain, it usually occurs between November and December and February and April.

Camp Moremi – Moremi Game Reserve
In the renowned Moremi Game Reserve, Camp Moremi delivers the classic African safari experience. Rebuilt in 2018 as a modern luxury safari lodge, 12 thatched tents include one two-bedroom family suite. Camp Moremi offers a blend of different activities that allow for access to incredible landscapes, impressive wildlife as well as the opportunity to enjoy the picturesque waters of the Okavango Delta spotting leopards, elephants or lions. Moremi Game Reserve’s incredible wetlands support a vast number of antelopes, including impalas, kudus and waterbucks.

Shinde Camp – Okavango Delta
Nestled on a lush palm-dotted island in the heart of Northern Okavango Delta is Shinde Camp – a luxury tented safari camp situated on the edge of the lagoon. Rebuilt in 2020, Shinde Camp has eight large safari-style private tents offering the very best in modern comfort, with beautiful en suite bathrooms and welcoming staff who will be at your service to help make your stay an unforgettable experience. With accommodation for only 16 people, Shinde ensures an intimate escape. The tree-house style main area features an incredible dining experience with fantastic cuisine and stunning views. Shinde’s expert guides will escort guests on private game activities including game drives, walks, mokoro canoes, motorboats and fishing. The island is the home to large herds of antelope, including the sitatunga with their elongated splayed hooves, as well as a vast array of African birds.

Dinaka Safari Lodge – Kalahari Game Reserve
Perched on the northern boundary of the Central Kalahari Game Reserve, the Dinaka Safari Lodge is a stunning safari lodge in the heart of the world’s second-largest wildlife reserve. The Kalahari is a wild world of antelope, giraffe, hyena, beautiful black-maned lions and 200 different species of bird. Experience the wilderness up-close with Dinaka’s unforgettable game drives or witness the wonder of the Kalahari’s nocturnal creatures with adventurous night drives. The lodge offers seven raised safari tents with twin or double-beds, and larger family tents that sleep up to five. All the tents feature en suite bathrooms and wooden platforms to relax and take in the breath-taking views. Wheelchair access is ensured throughout.
