Destination Residences Hawaiʻi announces Dean Anderson as Area Director of Commercial Strategy

His new role includes promoting unity and teamwork and cultivating inter-relationships to achieve the company’s shared vision.

MAUI, HAWAII – Destination Residences Hawaiʻi, part of Hyatt Hotels, welcomes hospitality veteran Dean Anderson to its executive committee as area director of commercial strategy. The company curates a fine collection of premium private residences available for rent amidst the luxury hotels and resort communities of Maui, Kauaʻi and the Island of Hawaiʻi. Anderson will lead marketing, revenue management, reservations, sales, and homeowner acquisition strategies in his new role.

"Dean’s reputation as an inspired, progressive and results-oriented leader within Hawaiʻiʻs hospitality industry makes him a perfect fit for our team," says Michael Cuthbertson, area vice president of Destination Residences Hawaiʻi. "In addition to managing the growth of our business, we are also looking to Dean to foster a positive work environment for our team members where they continue to feel supported and motivated. Our people, our ʻohana, is the most important part of our company."

Anderson, who served as director of sales and marketing for Destination Residences Hawaiʻi in 2008, is familiar with the culture of ʻohana the company practices as one of its core values. His new role includes promoting unity and teamwork and cultivating inter-relationships to achieve the company’s shared vision. He is tasked to inspire the team to grow revenue and market share, thus optimizing homeowner and company returns. He is also responsible for increasing residences under management through property and area-level owner acquisition strategies.

All of Destination Residences Hawai'i's private vacation rentals offer the comforts and conveniences of a home with the full-service resort amenities such as housekeeping and concierge services. It manages a variety of residences from one-bedroom studio condominiums to luxury five-bedroom villas in golf-front and ocean-front resort communities.

"It’s like coming home," says Anderson about his return to Destination Residences Hawaiʻi. "A lot has changed, and a lot has also stayed the same. The company's immense growth in the last decade is impressive. I am looking forward to continuing that trajectory. At the same time, the intimate ʻohana-like culture, values of serving-from-the-heart, and delivering greatness remain. I am thrilled to be back."

Before his return to Destination Residences Hawaiʻi, Anderson served as director of revenue strategy at Grand Wailea, A Waldorf Astoria Resort; director of resort sales and market at The Ritz-Carlton Residences, Waikiki Beach; vice president of sales and marketing at Castle Resorts & Hotels and director of revenue and reservations at Trump International Hotel Waikiki Beach.

Anderson holds a master of business administration from Thunderbird School of Global Management, a master of science degree in Japanese business studies from Chaminade University, and a bachelor of arts degree in film studies from the University of California, Santa Barbara.

Anderson, his wife, Pen, and their three sons Ko’olau, Kala and Kona are long-time residents of Hawai’i. They are very active in the community where Pen teaches special education at Waiheʻe Elementary School. The Anderson ‘ohana and their two terrier mix dogs enjoy exploring everything Maui has to offer.
