Devon holiday park experiences record early-bird bookings on the back of ½ million pound investment in new facilities

The peak summer period is also close to sell-out with cottages already 84% booked, static caravan holiday homes 78% booked and luxury hot tub lodges 70% booked.

Multi award-winning holiday park Cofton Holidays, near Dawlish Warren, has experienced its busiest start to a year with a huge surge in early-bird bookings for the popular school holidays.

The family-focussed holiday park has already hit 92% capacity for its static caravan holiday homes over the May half-term, while its self-catering cottages and luxury Georgian-style apartments are 77% booked.

The peak summer period is also close to sell-out with cottages already 84% booked, static caravan holiday homes 78% booked and luxury hot tub lodges 70% booked. Previously, those figures wouldn’t have been hit until the main school holidays. February’s booking forecast shows that pet-friendly accommodation is leading the charge with 89% of dog-friendly accommodation booked for the summer holiday period.

Cofton Holidays believes that the exceptional start to the year is not just driven by the end of Covid-19 restrictions and rules, but by its half million pound investments in four new dog-friendly fishing lodges, 48 new all-weather super pitches, and the introduction of a new Tree Top Adventure High Ropes Course, which is set to open after Easter.

Helen Scott, Director at Cofton Holidays, commented: “2021 was a record year for us, despite all the Covid-19 restrictions, but 2022 looks set to be even bigger and better. Having anticipated the continued trend in staycations we spent much of last year, and this winter, enhancing our range of accommodation and on-site facilities. We’re now beginning to see the benefits of that, including unprecedented touring bookings, which are already 45% booked over the May half term. We wouldn’t normally expect to see those sorts of booking levels until late March or April.

“What is undeniably clear is that holiday makers don’t want to risk missing out, and they don’t want to have to settle for an alternative with lesser facilities. That’s why we continually expand and improve our offer, be that rewilding to encourage a greater diversity of wildlife, or branching out to create destination drawing experiences, such as our all-new Tree Top Adventure High Ropes Course.

“By creating year-round attractions, we’re not only driving demand for the peak periods, but also for the shoulder periods. Between the February and May half-terms, for example, we’re already over 80% booked, which is a level that we could have only dreamed of in past years.”

In addition to its year-round accommodation options including luxury lodges with hot tubs, cottages, apartments, holiday homes and a campsite, Cofton boasts a list of award-winning facilities. These include four dining options, a pub, a heated indoor pool with splash pad area and hydrotherapy loungers, a fully equipped gym, sauna and steam rooms, a games zone, an entertainment programme for children and adults, an amusement arcade and outdoor and indoor play areas.

Latest among its site attractions includes Cofton’s adrenalin-fuelled Tree Top Adventure High Ropes Course featuring 16 different stations, each elevated eight metres above the ground, high amongst the canopy of Cofton’s mature woodland. Available to both day visitors and guests staying on site, the course includes narrow tightropes, rickety bridges, suspended tyre swings and zipline.
