Donnafugata moves to a hire club plain with Taylormade

Guests will be able to enjoy the latest in golf club technology when they visit the deluxe Sicilian venue thanks to the new investment that will see Donnafugata nearly treble its number of hire sets available.

RAGUSA – Donnafugata Golf Resort & Spa is promising golfers an improved five-star service in 2014 after undertaking a significant upgrade to its golf club rental service ahead of the start of the new year.

Guests will be able to enjoy the latest in golf club technology when they visit the deluxe Sicilian venue thanks to the new investment that will see Donnafugata nearly treble its number of hire sets available.

From February, the resort will be offering the latest state-of-the-art equipment with its new range of TaylorMade men’s and ladies’ clubs, which will feature Rocketballz Stage Two woods and Rocketballz irons, with the 50 new sets – featuring both graphite and steel shafts – increasing the total number of rental sets to 70.

And with the cost of transporting golf bags rising each year, golfers are set to reap the rewards with the improved rental service.

Guy Roberts, director of golf at Donnafugata Golf Resort & Spa, said: “We have enjoyed a fantastic year at the resort and improving our club rental facilities with our supplier ‘Golf ‘Us’  will help us to meet the growing demand of our guests, especially with the recent opening of Comiso airport nearby.

“The needs of the modern-day golfer are constantly changing and it’s important that we continue to adjust to them. These days, with the ever-increasing cost of golf bag charges, people want to come and play golf but aren’t always worried about bringing their own clubs.

“Our new rental service will allow golfers to use the latest golf club models at a price that is far less expensive than if they’d chosen to transport their own clubs out here.”

Donnafugata Golf Resort & Spa boasts two 18-hole championship golf courses  – The Parkland, designed by Gary Player and venue for the 2011 Sicilian Open, and The Links – and extensive practice facilities including a 70-bay driving range.

After hosting the Sicilian Open, the resort has enjoyed an outstanding period of success including becoming the first course in Italy to join IMG Prestige, an exclusive collection of some of the world’s most celebrated golfing venues, and seeing both its layouts named in Golf World’s latest biennial list of the ‘Top 200 Courses in Continental Europe’.

Located just 20 minutes away from the recently-opened Comiso airport and in the beautiful area of Donnafugata, a natural reserve and famous tourist destination known for the imposing castle which bears the same name, the resort also boasts a number of fantastic historical cities nearby. These include Val di Noto, the heart of Sicilian baroque: Ragusa Ibla, Modica, Noto and Scicli. All of them are deemed fitting of UNESCO World Heritage status.

Donnafugata Golf Resort & Spa has 202 rooms, an award-winning spa and health club, swimming pools and three restaurants offering a broad selection of gastronomic delights, well accompanied by perfect Sicilian wines to enhance flavour.
