Dunavant’s Henderson Beach Resort continues conctsruction

Located along one of America’s top beaches and also adjacent to the 208-acre, environmentally protected Henderson Beach nature preserve, Henderson Beach Resort will be one of the first luxury resorts to open along Florida’s Gulf Coast in a decade.

DESTIN, FL – Work continues apace at the new Henderson Beach Resort in Destin, Florida, owned by Memphis-based Dunavant Enterprises, Inc.

The resort’s anchor hotel, a 170-room luxury property called The Henderson, is scheduled to open next summer and is already booking meetings and events. The Henderson is being managed by Salamander Hotels & Resorts, a luxury hotel management company owned by Sheila C. Johnson.

Located along one of America’s top beaches and also adjacent to the 208-acre, environmentally protected Henderson Beach nature preserve, Henderson Beach Resort will be one of the first luxury resorts to open along Florida’s Gulf Coast in a decade.

Over 600 tons of rebar have been installed, which equates the weight of eight Boeing 737 airplanes. Enough concrete has been poured to cover a football field over three feet deep. Twenty-two miles of cable have been installed, enough to span the Golden Gate Bridge nearly 13 times.

The estimated cost of the overall resort development exceeds $300 million. Since breaking ground in January 2014, the project has created hundreds of jobs. An economic impact study projects that The Henderson hotel will create a total of over 1,557 direct and indirect jobs. This includes 677 construction jobs and 261 staff positions.
