BERLIN – A trip en-famille shouldn’t mean an end to the grown-up escapism that came with being footloose and child-free, a sentiment certainly shared by Ekies All Senses Resort. This Design Hotels member is easing the transition from hedonistic travels to family adventures with the introduction of the Pine and Evergreen suites. Set amid the lush greenery of this paradisiacal slice of Hellenic coastline, 10 eco-luxury suites exude chic relaxation and sublime seclusion, making for a suitably stylish family foray in Halkidiki, Greece.
Sitting serenely in the shadow of nearby Mount Itamos, the suites pay homage to the surrounding woodland through the use of natural, raw materials and a fluid design which links the open-plan living space, private garden, plunge pool and forest path. “Inspired by the wonderful fauna and flora that surrounds us, these new suites are introducing a more holistic approach to hospitality: we want guests to have a 360-degree experience, where both indoor and outdoor spaces interact with each other harmoniously and can be enjoyed as one,” says hotel owner and Original Alexandra Efstathiadou.
Designed by Athens-based architectural firm Agarch+, the exterior of each of the Pine and Evergreen suites has been crafted to blend seamlessly with the landscape, while the hand-laid herringbone stone flooring is a nod to traditional Greek artisanship. Traditional design also features in the suites’ interiors where mosaic motifs accent the subdued palette of greys, indigo and rust red, shot through with splashes of color. Custom-made furniture and fittings are crafted from niangon wood, unrefined metal and grey Greek marble, with a focus on sustainable production methods that defines the eco-friendly ethos of Ekies All Senses Resort.
Sized at 45 square meters, the Pine Suites comprise a large open-plan living and sleeping area suitable for two adults and one child. The private garden and plunge pool area is dotted with hammocks, completing the laid-back atmosphere. The 90-square-meter Evergreen Suites incorporate two Pine Suites and can sleep groups and families of up to six guests. A spacious, secluded 50-square-meter garden provides ample space for lively family pool sessions, and the direct access to the surrounding forest spells halcyon days of hiking and exploring.
Ekies All Senses Resort is located on an unspoiled beach in Vourvourou, Halkidiki, surrounded by rocky islands, caves, crystal waters, sandy beaches, and pine tree forests. The 69 rooms and suites weave Greek tradition with distinctive designs, while organic forms, sustainability, and an ethos of minimal waste complete the resort’s eco-philosophy.
