Empower urges hotel industry to adopt latest district cooling systems

HE Ahmad Bin Shafar, CEO of Empower.

District cooling can boost hospitality and tourism sector while saving natural resources says Bin Shafar.

DUBAI, UAE – As part of its efforts towards disseminating advanced district cooling technologies, Emirates Central Cooling Systems Corporation (Empower), the world's largest district cooling services provider, has urged hotels and hospitality companies to adopt district cooling systems, which is known for its flexibility and greater efficiency in providing cooling services, in addition to energy savings and conservation of natural resources.

“The hospitality industry in Dubai is more aware of the importance of district cooling as 13 per cent of the buildings connected to our services are hotels. By adopting district cooling systems, hotels can focus on their core business and let us handle what we specialise in. We are pleased to use the Hotel Show, one of the largest platforms in the hospitality sector, to highlight latest district cooling technologies within the hotel and tourism sector before leading players from the sector for their current and future projects,” said HE Ahmad Bin Shafar, CEO of Empower.

The 16th Hotel Show which kicked off today (17 September) in Dubai will continue until 19th September. The show is a prestigious platform in the hotel industry, restaurants, cafeterias and hospitality services in the Middle East and Africa region, where exhibitors from 48 countries are showcasing their latest products and technologies, equipments and numerous related services for hotel and hospitality sectors. The show also holds a number of seminars featuring more than 135 experts discussing major challenges facing the industry, and ways to improve services and boost inflow of visitors and tourists.

“The hospitality sector is dependent on various luxury services in which cooling services play an active part. We are keen to highlight the edge of district cooling over traditional technologies. On top of financial savings in installation and commissioning work, district cooling can result in 50% reduction in energy cost when compared to conventional cooling means,” HE bin Shafar added.

“At Empower we are keen to carry out the operation and maintenance works continuously and efficiently throughout the year according to highest international standards and at lower cost compared to traditional cooling methods. Also, our equipments do not need to be replaced too frequently compared to traditional air conditioning. Considering the reliability standards, Empower uses sophisticated equipment ready for action in emergency cases,” he added.

Bin Shafar pointed out that the district cooling stations are located in separate areas far from buildings and institutions, which in turn contributes to enhancing the experience of visitors and guests and allows making better use of spaces that are normally reserved for traditional air conditioning equipments.

HE bin Shafar expressed full confidence in the future of the district cooling industry with the hospitality industry. This is reflected in the success of Empower’s strategy of spreading the use of district cooling.

Empower currently operates more than 1 million 100 thousands RT, providing environmentally responsible district cooling services to large-scale real estate developments, such as Jumeirah Group, Business Bay, Jumeirah Beach Residence, Dubai International Financial Centre, Palm Jumeirah, Jumeirah Lake Towers, Ibn Battuta Mall, Discovery Gardens, Dubai Healthcare City, Dubai World Trade Centre Residences and Dubai Design District, among others.
