South Philly hotel undergoing $8 million expansion to add comfort, privacy with additional accommodations.

PHILADELPHIA – After an $8 million expansion expected to be completed by spring 2017, Courtyard Philadelphia South at The Navy Yard plans to welcome aboard 40 new guest rooms for the ultimate night's slumber.

The South Philly hotel near Wells Fargo Center will be in ship shape to handle even more business and leisure travelers when it unveils additional accommodations after exceeding expectations for two full years of operation. The hotel will now have 153 king rooms, 47 queen/queen rooms, five king suites, three queen/queen suites and four studio suites.

From the moment guests cross the threshold of their temporary quarters, they'll be calmed by quiet gray and turquoise tones reflected in artwork, bedding and carpets – the perfect environment for unwinding after a busy day. Small, bright pops of turquoise in pillows and furnishings add a touch of excitement and help bring the outdoors in.

Whether in town to be productive or simply relax, visitors staying at the South Philadelphia hotel will appreciate pillow-top mattresses with cotton-rich linens and plenty of fluffy pillows. Expansive desks on wheels, along with ergonomic chairs, allow professionals to accomplish their tasks anywhere in the room while being afforded the privacy they desire and natural light they seek. Complimentary high-speed Wi-Fi and plenty of power outlets keep guests well-connected and electronic devices properly charged. During downtime, premium movie channels can be played on the 42-inch flat-panel TVs that adorn all rooms and suites. Mini-refrigerators, coffeemakers, irons and ironing boards, and cozy sofas also are available.

Bright and crisp bathrooms feature plenty of space for travelers to ready themselves in the morning, conduct business or impress future colleagues during a job interview at one of the more than 152 companies that call The Navy Yard home. The LEED-certified hotel fits in well with its environment, being surrounded by companies committed to smart energy innovation and sustainability.

The hotel's ideal location also allows visitors to sample an array of cuisines for breakfast, lunch and dinner. That list of eateries includes The Bistro – Eat. Drink. Connect., the Courtyard's restaurant serving appetizers, soups, salads and sandwiches along with hearty meals such as a New York strip steak, grilled filet mignon, pan-seared salmon fillet and slow-roasted carnitas. The Bistro also boasts freshly brewed Starbucks beverages all day long and a selection of wines, beers and cocktails in the evenings. The hotel is proud to have been chosen to kick off the pilot program for a Bistro 2.0 coming in November 2016.
