Four Red Carnation Hotels voted for the Top Spot For World’s Best Hotel

Red Carnation, the luxury collection of 5- and 4-star family-run boutique hotels, is delighted to announce four of its hotels have received prestigious awards within Travel+Leisure magazines World’s Best Awards in 2009, including the top spot for Best Hotel in the World.

Travel+Leisure magazine’s 14th annual World’s Best poll asks readers to vote for the world’s best cities, islands, hotels, cruises, and airlines. Travel+Leisure, regarded as one of the world’s leading travel lifestyle magazines, has a monthly circulation of almost one million readers internationally.

Having been rated against the finest hotels around the globe, Bushmans Kloof Wilderness Reserve & Wellness Retreat was voted the Best Hotel in the World in the 2009 Travel+Leisure World’s Best Awards Reader’s Survey. Bushmans Kloof was also voted No.1 in the Lodges + Resorts category for Africa and the Middle East. The exclusive 5-star wilderness retreat sits at the foothills of the Cederberg Mountains, some 270km north of Cape Town, South Africa. Since its inception in 1996, Bushmans Kloof has consistently received worldwide recognition, not only for its renowned hospitality, service and facilities, but also for its dedication to restoring and preserving the natural beauty of the 7500-hectare reserve.

The 5-star Twelve Apostles Hotel and Spa, Cape Town, South Africa, renowned for its superb accommodation, signature menus, stand alone location and award winning spa was voted No. 1 City Hotel in Africa and the Middle East, No. 1 Hotel Spa in Africa and the Middle East and No. 15 in the Best Hotels in the World.

Travel+Leisure’s No. 5 spot in the Small City Hotel’s category for Europe went to 41, a 5-star luxury boutique hotel. Situated opposite Buckingham Palace’s Royal Mews, T+L describes 41 as a "discreet and private retreat with a private club air". This subtle symphony of high technology and pure luxury is a haven for the business-savvy traveler and a cocoon for the discriminating guest.

The Milestone Hotel, a 5-star luxury hotel of 57 rooms and 6 apartments, was also placed in the No. 10 spot in the Small City Hotel’s category for Europe. Situated opposite Kensington Palace and Hyde Park, "a refined, residential feel, thanks to its intimate size and personal gestures like sweets at turndown", is how T+L describes the atmosphere at The Milestone. Highlights of a stay at The Milestone include traditional English cream tea in the Park Lounge, cocktails in the Stables bar, and dinner in Cheneston’s restaurant, which Tatler magazine has described as ‘a brilliant address to have up your sleeve’.

Jonathan Raggett, Managing Director of The Red Carnation Hotel Collection said, "This is an enormous accolade for our collection. Mrs Tollman, our Founder and President, and I are absolutely thrilled that four of our hotels were recognized with such a prestigious award, especially winning the top spot for Best Hotel in the World for Bushmans Kloof. Our fourteen hotels are absolutely committed to providing caring, attentive service, by going the extra mile when it comes to those all-important touches, listening to guests and most importantly, welcoming them to their ‘home away from home’. These awards are a testament to our dedicated and passionate teams".
