Grecotels prove that quality&service win more awards

The leading British tour operator, Thomson, announced the results of its Thomson Gold Medal Awards 2002

The leading British tour operator, Thomson, announced the results of its Thomson Gold Medal Awards 2002. Once again, the Grecotel Group heads the list in Greece with 5 awards.



These awards are based on customer questionnaires and according to the 19,000 British visitors to Grecotels in 2002, four of the hotels were outstanding in their categories:


  • Grecotel Creta Palace, Rethymnon, Crete (A la carte)

  • Grecotel Rithymna Beach, Rethymnon, Crete (Platinum)

  • Grecotel Pella Beach, Hanioti, Halkidiki (Summer Sun)

  • Grecotel El Greco, Rethymnon, Crete (Health & Safety Award)


Additionally, the Grecotel Group is awarded with the worldwide Thomson Environment Award 2002.



The Awards presented in London on 12 November 2002.



In this difficult year for tourism, the British market has been resilient. states G. Karatzias, General Manager of Grecotel we have seen a 93% increase in British guest overnights in 2002. Forecasts for 2003 show a further increase.
