HHC Atlantic, LLC announces the purchase of The Seagate Country Club

Guests of The Seagate Hotel & Spa to enjoy exclusive privileges at Joe Lee-designed golf course, eight-court tennis center and fine dining at world-class country club

DELRAY BEACH, FLA. – HHC Atlantic, LCC, in Delray Beach, Florida, owners of The Seagate Hotel and Spa and the Seagate Beach Club, is pleased to announce the $11 million purchase of the Seagate Country Club, a world-class golf and country club located in the heart of the charming beach resort town. Recently renovated and formerly known as the Hamlet Country Club, the Seagate Country Club is also located on Atlantic Avenue. As a gated community of charming and estate properties, the Seagate Country Club features one of the best championship golf courses in Palm Beach County, as well as a full-service clubhouse, a fitness center, Har-Tru tennis courts and additional private amenities available to Club members and guests of the Seagate Hotel & Spa starting November 9, 2012. All of the Seagate facilities are under the management umbrella of Seagate Hospitality Group, LLC.

“We are delighted to make the Seagate Country Club part of the exclusive guest offerings at the Seagate Hotel & Spa. We have all of the ingredients – a private golf and tennis club, an award-winning Spa, a private oceanfront Beach Club, and world-class dining for our guests –making us a full destination resort,” said E. Anthony Wilson, Chairman of Seagate Hospitality Group.

William J. Sander III, Executive Vice President of Seagate Hospitality Group and General Manager of the Seagate Hotel & Spa, said, “Our hotel’s premier location in Delray Beach, Florida – recently awarded the ‘Most Fun Small Town in America’ by Rand McNally and USA Today – coupled with our nearby beachfront paradise and now, a private country club, provide the ultimate vacation experience that our guests are looking for.”

Darren Panks, Director of Golf and International PGA Professional, will direct the 18-hole Joe Lee golf course, which winds through 300 private acres and features Celebration Bermuda grass tee boxes, plush tree-lined fairways and more. An impressive practice facility offers a fully outfitted driving range, putting green, pitching and bunker areas as well as an additional staff of PGA Professionals.

The Club’s tennis center has eight Har-Tru courts and tennis professionals available for personal instruction, as well as drill sessions, tournaments and round robins. The Club also features a 4,200-square-foot fitness center, pool, fitness director and personal trainers.

In addition, The Seagate Country Club offers both casual and fine-dining options, indoors and outdoors, including a fine-dining restaurant available for dinner, along with the casual 19th Hole restaurant and bar. All dining operations are led by Executive Chef Adam Gottlieb and feature fresh American cuisine fashioned from local and coastal ingredients. With Balinese-inspired decor and banqueting, The Seagate Country Club is also a popular venue for meetings, social gatherings and weddings and can accommodate up to 300 seated guests.

The Hamlet Country Club opened in 1973 and was one of the first private clubs in the state of Florida. With the renowned architectural course design led by Joe Lee, along with regular black-tie events, the Club drew membership of greats such as former member and board member Jack Nicklaus; retired baseball legends’ Mickey Mantle and Whitey Ford; and Hall of Fame pro golfers Beth Daniels, Sandy Lyle, Jane Blalock and Hollis Stacey. In 2007, The Hamlet underwent a $10 million renovation; the Club was refurbished with fine woods, bamboo and silk, along with re-contoured golf course fairways and new Har-Tru tennis courts.

“We are thrilled to introduce the newest Seagate property to our esteemed members and hotel guests,” says George Valente, General Manager of the Seagate Country Club. “Our goal is to cultivate the finest resort experience, while sustaining the intimacy of a boutique property, for both members and hotel guests alike.”

The Seagate Hotel & Spa will provide guests with complimentary, luxury roundtrip transportation to the Seagate Country Club, which is only 3.1 miles away. The purchase of the Seagate Country Club is just the latest new attraction for guests of the Seagate Hotel & Spa. The hotel recently introduced a 2,500-gallon shark tank as the hotel’s fifth aquarium, as well as Executive Chef Adam Gottlieb’s new menu at the Atlantic Grille, featuring local produce and seafood such as Pan-Fried Scallops and Local Roasted Snapper.

The Seagate Hotel & Spa is a luxury boutique resort in Delray Beach, Florida. The 154-room beach-inspired property offers upscale dining options, an 8,000 square-foot on-site spa and Beach Club privileges at the Seagate Beach Club, located less than a mile from the hotel. Signature restaurant, Atlantic Grille, features contemporary American cuisine with a focus on locally sourced seafood. The Seagate Spa boasts seven treatment rooms and an array of services, including the signature Hot Shell Massage. The Seagate Hotel & Spa offers three meeting rooms totaling 4,000 square feet.
