Hilton Los Angeles/Universal City welcomes Matthew La Vine as Managing Director

La Vine, who boasts nearly 30 years of experience in the hospitality industry, takes over the helm of the Hilton Los Angeles/Universal City, the largest hotel in the San Fernando Valley, from Mark Davis.

LOS ANGELES – Sun Hill Properties, Inc. announced the appointment of Matthew La Vine as Managing Director of the Hilton Los Angeles/Universal City.

La Vine, who boasts nearly 30 years of experience in the hospitality industry, takes over the helm of the Hilton Los Angeles/Universal City, the largest hotel in the San Fernando Valley, from Mark Davis. Davis, recently appointed President and CEO of Sun Hill Properties, Inc., will turn his attention to growing the company’s hotel portfolio. In addition to its flagship property, the Hilton Los Angeles/Universal City, the company owns and operates The Courtyard by Marriott Ventura/Simi Valley, The TownePlace Suites Denver Southwest, and The TownePlace Suites in Colorado Springs.

“I am excited to welcome Matt to the Sun Hill Properties team and look forward to his leadership at our flagship hotel,” said Davis. “These are very exciting times at the Hilton Los Angeles/Universal City as we look to add a 395-room addition to the existing hotel; the future holds a tremendous amount of promise.”

La Vine, a native of the San Fernando Valley, comes to the Hilton Los Angeles/Universal City from The Miramonte Indian Wells Resort and Spa Curio by Hilton, where he served as general manager overseeing the 215-room four-star resort.

“I am thrilled to have this opportunity at one of the best-performing hotels in the entire Los Angeles marketplace,” said La Vine. “I have a deep loyalty and passion for Hilton as a company and a brand, and it is exciting to work at one of their most successful hotels, viewed by its neighbors and visitors alike as a treasured asset.”

Starting his career nearly 30 years ago, La Vine honed his senior management skills starting at Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts in Los Angeles, Carlsbad, and Toronto, Canada. His general manager assignments include Fess Parker Doubletree Santa Barbara, Edgewater Beach Hotel Naples, and the Hilton Santa Fe Buffalo Thunder.

With 495 rooms, more than 30,000 square feet of meeting and convention space, and a staff of over 450 employees, the Hilton Los Angles/Universal City has been a staple of the Valley for over 30 years given its location adjacent to Universal Studios and just minutes from Hollywood. The Hilton Los Angles/Universal City recently completed a multi-million-dollar top-to-bottom renovation of all rooms and suites, conference and banquet spaces, and Café Sierra, its popular restaurant featuring a prime rib/seafood buffet/brunch every weekend and on holidays
