Hilton Worldwide Properties celebrate Global Week of Service with daily service projects all over Egypt

During the week of October 6, hundreds of team members rolled up their sleeves and took part in a wide variety of local community initiatives including school maintenance programs ,street cleaning, food distribution to the less fortunate, delivering meals to hospitals, sponsoring renovations and cleaning orphanages, as well as setting up hospitality training sessions across a number of local schools.

CAIRO, EGYPT – In celebration of Hilton Worldwide’s second annual Global Week of Service, staff at city and resort hotels across Egypt participated in a wealth of community activities all over the country. This year the company’s biggest community service initiative of the year falls the week before the Islamic Eid al Adha holiday making the week’s activities a special reminder of why it is so important to give back. During the week of October 6, hundreds of team members rolled up their sleeves and took part in a wide variety of local community initiatives including school maintenance programs ,street cleaning, food distribution to the less fortunate, delivering meals to hospitals, sponsoring renovations and cleaning orphanages, as well as setting up hospitality training sessions across a number of local schools.

Hilton Luxor Resort and Spa cleaned a local orphanage and launched a series of major renovations while Hilton Dahab Resort hosted less fortunate children from a local community for a day using the hotel’s facilities. In Alexandria, team members from Hilton Alexandria Green Plaza worked with the Egyptian Food Bank distributing meals to those in need while team members at Hilton Sharm Waterfalls Resort in Sharm El Sheikh planted trees and donated excess beds and mattresses to a local school.

In Cairo, Conrad Cairo adopted a nearby public school and launched a year-long support program assessing the students’ needs while Ramses Hilton set up staff blood donations and visited patients at the Children’s Cancer Hospital. Meanwhile in Hurghada, team members at Hilton Hurghada Plaza hosted a spelling bee competition for public school students from all over the governorate and Hilton Hurghada Long Beach Resort cleaned up the main streets of the town, painting and repairing lamp-posts and distributing extra trash bins. And staff at Hilton Hurghada Resort were in the classroom helping train local students on hospitality skills.

We are only as strong as the communities we serve, and we look forward to leading our communities through volunteer service all year-round,” Muhr concluded.

Hilton Worldwide’s Global Week of Service features hundreds of projects around the globe and unites the company’s approximately 300,000 team members in more than 3,900 locations in their passion for hospitality and service by participating in hands-on volunteer projects and events in their local communities. During the week of October 6, 2013, Hilton Worldwide team members across 90 countries and territories celebrated the company’s annual Global Week of Service.

In 2012, during Hilton Worldwide’s inaugural Global Week of Service, Team Members at more than 600 properties and offices completed more than 800 volunteer projects in 401 cities across the company’s global footprint. The projects focused on engaging Team Members and delivering on Hilton Worldwide’s commitment to Travel with Purpose by creating opportunities, strengthening communities, celebrating cultures and living sustainably. This year, the company aims to build upon this community engagement and is striving to complete more than 1,200 service projects.
