Hotel Chicago to complete renovation led by CBT

Chicago luxury hotel upgrades lobby, restaurant and bar.

CBT, a Boston-based Interior and Architectural design firm specializing in hospitality, has announced that it will complete the interior design renovation of the Hotel Chicago located at 333 North Dearborn. The redesign includes the hotel’s lobby, exterior entry and signage, restaurant space and bar.

As one of the centerpieces of Chicago’s evolving cityscape for the past 50 years, CBT’s concept for the Hotel Chicago draws from the city’s defining elements, especially as the “City of Skyscrapers.” The new entry was designed to protect the guests from the “Windy City,” who are welcomed by a captivating sign that informs guests that this is the New Hotel Chicago. Two memorable concierge pods greet the guests, inspired by the curved forms of the Marina Towers, and are lit from above by contemporary fixtures with hanging glass rods sparkling with LED lighting. The “Hub” lobby and bar take inspiration from the hotel’s location, featuring flexible meeting and private dining spaces. The highly reflective ceiling houses the recessed lighting and linear diffusers, creating an increased perception of height and compelling reflections – similar to the effect of skyscrapers.

“The architecturally significant colors in monochromatic tones of black, white and grey throughout represent Chicago’s history and connection to the Art Deco period,” said Jacqueline McGee, CBT Principal. “Each aspect of the 12,000 square-foot interior design was curated with bold originality and uncommon details conveying a singular and unique Chicago experience, both inside and out. Our team combined beautiful materials with exquisitely detailed lighting inspired by the local urban culture to create the unexpected. It has been an amazing opportunity to reinvent one of the iconic Chicago hotels to reflect the transformational and dynamic history of the city.”

“The Hotel Chicago team is thrilled to have our guests experience the new contemporary design which certainly complements our exciting downtown Chicago location,” said Mark Deinhart, General Manager of The Hotel Chicago, Autograph Collection. “Our guests have been delighted by the transformation of old to new and the architectural features created by Jacqueline have added a dramatic impact to Hotel Chicago.”
