IHG announces Crowne Plaza Hotel opening in Montreal, QC

IHG (InterContinental Hotels Group) announced that the Crowne Plaza Montreal Airport has opened after a conversion from Sheraton Four Points. “We are excited to offer travellers a comfortable and convenient environment to meet in Montreal,” said Gina LaBarre, vice president, Brand Management, Crowne Plaza Hotels & Resorts, the Americas. “The breathtaking sites, local nightlife and culture of beautiful Montreal attract numerous people travelling for business and leisure, making this a great location for an upscale meetings-savvy brand like Crowne Plaza.”

Located minutes from Montreal-Pierre Elliott Trudeau International Airport, the Crowne Plaza Montreal Airport is a mere kilometre away from Cote Vertu Shopping Mall, cinemas and restaurants. It is also within 15 kilometres of downtown Montreal, the famous Old Montreal, Six Flags/La Ronde Amusement Park and the Montreal Casino. The Cosmodome is minutes away, and sports enthusiasts can watch their favourite teams in action at the nearby Bell Centre.

The hotel will feature the Crowne Plaza Sleep Advantage program, which is available at all Crowne Plaza hotels in the Americas. Sleep Advantage encompasses the entire sleep experience, from training staff on how to create and maintain a restful environment to providing innovative products and services. Program components include signature bedding, guaranteed wake-up calls, designated quiet zones, night lights, drape clips, and amenities such as eye masks, ear plugs and lavender spray.

Also consistent with the Crowne Plaza brand, the hotel offers a comprehensive meetings program to ensure a seamless planning process and exceptional meeting experience consisting of three key components: a Two-Hour Response Guarantee, Crowne Meetings Director and a Daily Meetings Debrief. The hotel’s intimate options for smaller meeting groups and special occasions are complemented by 30,000 square feet of banquet space. An outdoor garden area provides the perfect setting for cocktails and receptions. A courtesy airport shuttle service trip runs every 20 minutes to and from the hotel, offering travellers a quick and easy way to get to their destinations.

"Our expansion in the Quebec market has been growing at a very steady pace, and it is very appropriate that Montreal is now home to a Crowne Plaza, further enhancing our stellar growth in Canada," said Gopal Rao, regional vice president, Sales & Marketing, Canada, IHG.

The hotel is owned by 9002-7848 Quebec Inc., and managed by RosDev Hotel Management, under a license agreement with a company in the InterContinental Hotels Group. The property is located at 6600 Cote De Liesse, Montreal, Quebec H4T 1E3.

Also, IHG announced that the Holiday Inn Express and Suites Courtenay Comox Valley SW in British Columbia has opened. The new-build property will showcase the brand’s new sign, which is the seal of approval that this hotel exemplifies the standards of the $1 billion Holiday Inn brand relaunch program.

First announced in 2007, the relaunch program was established to create a more contemporary brand image as part of the drive to increase quality and consistency across the global portfolio. The program focuses on arrival and welcome services, guestroom, and guest bath comfort. The global estate of more than 3,200 Holiday Inn and Holiday Inn Express properties is expected to be relaunched by the end of 2010.
