IHG selects Ogilvy Public Relations to support global marketing reputation brief

IHG franchises, leases, manages or owns over 4,600 hotels and more than 674,000 guest rooms in nearly 100 countries and territories. With more than 1,000 hotels in its development pipeline, IHG expects to recruit around 90,000 people into additional roles across its estate over the next few years.

LONDON – InterContinental Hotels Group has appointed Ogilvy Public Relations (Ogilvy PR) to engage the global marketing industry’s brightest and boldest. Leading a campaign that will build IHG’s reputation and grow awareness amongst global talent within the creative industries, Ogilvy PR’s appointment followed a two-way competitive pitch process.

Earlier this year IHG announced its collaboration with WPP, world leader in marketing and communications. This allows all of the agency resources of IHG to be brought under one roof and work together as one integrated family of agencies. The appointment of Ogilvy PR on this global project builds on the collaboration in a consistent approach to deliver against the IHG strategy.

As well as engaging top marketers externally, a team from Ogilvy PR’s Corporate and Public Affairs practice will work to showcase and celebrate the best of IHG’s creative marketing across its portfolio of hotel brands.

Delivering brands that are preferred by guests is a key priority for IHG, by building on the strength of its marketing delivery to make the brands bigger, better and stronger.

IHG has nine hotel brands with over 4,600 hotels in nearly 100 countries and territories. The scale and diversity of its family of brands touches every segment. With a range that includes specialist brands, like HUALUXE™ Hotels &Resorts, the first upscale international travel brand aimed at the Chinese traveler, and the new EVEN™ Hotels, designed around wellness, for those that want to stay active and eat well when travelling, IHG’s portfolio also spans the range from luxury brands, like InterContinental® Hotels & Resorts, to Holiday Inn Express® Hotels, designed to offer great service and value.

Tamara Strauss, Director, Global Cross Brand Communications, IHG said: “We are very pleased to be working with Ogilvy PR to build awareness of IHG’s strong and innovative brand marketing capabilities. Our brands are at the heart of everything we do and we were looking for an agency that understood this and could deliver strong results through creative but practical ideas.”

Iain Bundred, Director, Ogilvy PR/London said: “IHG is a leading global hospitality brand and we are honoured to be chosen as their partner in enhancing this reputation. This is a really exciting brief and we look forward to engaging our industry peers with IHG’s rich marketing story and storytellers. As a stand-alone PR consultancy integrated within one of the marketing world’s powerhouses, Ogilvy PR has a unique ability to look across the marketing spectrum. We will be working with partners across the Ogilvy Group and WPP as we engage the best and brightest across the marketing mix.”

Ogilvy PR’s IHG team will be led by Head of Corporate & Public Affairs, Iain Bundred.
